Software Question...
I have a Sept. 2003 build CVT MC. Does anyone know which software version my car is running? I hate to make a service appointment to get V36 installed if I already have it...lol
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I think you have V35, just like I did with my September 30th build MCS. I can't recall if V36 helps out the CVT's, but it certainly smoothed out the MCS, especially the cruise control stability and DSC intrusion.

My dealer claims I already have installed V36 from delivery. My '04 MCS is an early September '03 build which was delivered in October. This can't be right, is it? Your MCS was built 4 weeks after mine and came with v35 of the software (per your inquiry).
The dealer ran my VIN number and said that I already have v36.
Would appreciate your taughts on this.

Hello,
I was at the dealership in Denver today getting my mini-fini armrest installed and asked the SA about this. (my '04 S build date was 10/10) He checked and said that all '04 models should have the v36. Bet that's why I never noticed the stumble on mine.

Ok, I'm freaked out now. Why did my cruise control and DSC start working way better after Classic MINI loaded V36 onto my MINI if I "already" had V36 installed from the factory? I was under the impression that Oxford started using V36 in production starting early October.

According to BMW/MINI service bulletin SI M 12 02 03, MINIs (all models) built until 10/2003 DO NOT HAVE version 36 loaded from the factory. It appears to be cars produced as of November '03 forward already have 36 installed.
My 9/2003 build '04 MCS is booked in tomorrow morning to get software v36 installed. I have asked my service advisor to allow me to see in the service computer the software version currently installed in my car before downloading v36.
Ryan, before updating your MCS to v36 where you able to visialize the actual software version your car came with? Was it v35?

Hi:
Did your service advisor hook up your car to the service computer to determine which software version you already have installed in your MCS, or he just said that "all '04s are supposed to have 36 from the factory"?
A serial VIN check number is not enough to make that determination. The SA needs to hook up the car to the portable service computer and view the software version currently installed.
Please clarify, because if your build date was 10/10/2003, your car is not supposed to have v36 from the factory yet, unless you took delivery of the vehicle in late November, December or January and the VPC or dealer had the opportunity to load it before actual delivery.

Hiya,
Thanks for the info. Thats what I had thought from reading the threads here and at MINI2. Not sure what info he was looking at on his pc but my car wasn't hooked up at the time. I didn't take delivery until 11/26 so maybe mine did squeek in with v36.?
The reason I had asked was I was going to get it loaded to see if it would improve my cruise control stability. I did ask when they first started loading v36 and was told all the '04s should have it.
I'm taking my S back next month for some more mods and will have them hook it up then. Thanks,
Dan
