Headlight bulb removal

I couldn't find this through search so hopefully this isn't a repost.

One of my headlights burned out so I removed the plastic cover from the back of the headlight and twisted the bulb out of headlight housing and thats were I got stuck. The owners manual shows a "retaining clip" that I'm supposed to move to get the old bulb out. The images shown does not resemble anything I actually see. Am I just dumb because this should be an extremely simple process or is there some sort of trick to get the headlight bulb out?

Thanks in advance.

well I just pulled one of mine (07-S hard top) in about 30 seconds - took longer to open the bonnet, I can never find the darn latch.

Here's looking at the driver side, the headlight unit is pointing down

pop off the door and find the bulb connector, about 1/4 turn "anti-clockwise" and the bulb and connector is free, pull it back. You can now release the connector clip from the back to free the bulb.

Perhaps I made it easier by not reading the directions first! Remember to not touch the glass of the new bulb, the oil from your hands will burn on the bulb and cause early failure.

*** addition ***

I looked at the 2007 owner manual online and it does show some sort of a spring clip that I did NOT see on my car ...

just twst and the bulb can be removed, the connector just snaps on the back of the bulk

easy

Shouldnt you disconnect the power first from the headlight unit... maybe im just too precautious.

I never have ... if there is enuf slack to be able to get everything out. The light does not ground to the housing, which is all plastic, so you save nothing there. If the ignition is off and the lights are off . . . this isn't the type of thing that has dark current running around.

I sometimes find that being able to SEE the connector helps locate the sometimes present magic tab or button you need to press to get the darn thing to release.

But if you feel better doing it the other way, go for it.

My point was just that 1/4 twist and everything comes out . . .
