Dead battery due to ps fan not shutting off. How do you open the trunk to get the battery out ?

No trunk on a MINI. Now the boot latch is all electric - so it most def will not open with a dead battery.

See last post here for where the cable release must be...

I've used a battery charger to provide power when this has happened to me.

On my mini there is a cable you can pull under the back seat (it pops right up to reveal the cable) to release the boot hatch. Not sure if yours is different. Good luck!

I have to use the battery charger method since my 2002 MCS doesn't have the cable release - even though the specs says it does.

02-S didn't have the cable release (or a jack)

if you don't have a battery charger just hook it up for jumping using the 'special' positive terminal under the bonnet aka jumper box; your electrics should now work

BUT you probably don't need a battery, you need a ps fan so a brute force solution is to leave the back seats down and disconnect the battery when you park the car until the primary problem is fixed.

Once you get it running do a hour or so at highway speed and your battery will come back if it wasn't too nearly toasted b4 this began. Back enuf for a start or two anyway ... once everything is fixed a good day or two of driving if you have an average commute should fully charge your battery - if it is a decent battery now.

OR

simply jump the car to start it, then drive to the battery place and open everything b4 you turn it off . . .
