A Tale of Mini Maintenance and Repairs

Noticed a puddle of black oily goop under my 06 MCS convertible a couple weeks ago and discovered that the motor mount on the supercharger end of the motor had ruptured. Before I could get it to the dealer, the brake pad light came on, so I thought I'd have that taken care of as well. When I got to the dealer, I also reported a faint sporatic clutch noise which I was able to reproduce for the tech in a drive around the block. He also heard a faint rattle in the front of the motor and thought it was the water pump and said they'd check that out as well. Anyway, long story short, they replaced the motor mount, front brake pads AND rotors, the clutch AND flywheel, AND the supercharger (it wasn't the water pump evidently)! Fortunately, the original owner had purchased the extended warranty/maintenance agreement (a 4th year)and it all was covered under warranty (whew!). The car only has 33K on the clock and my question is this. . . Can I expect these kinds of repairs every 30K on this thing, or is this unusual? If I would have paid for these repairs I'm thinking it would have been nearly $5K.

I don't think your repairs are typical. My 06 MCS has 45K and I haven't had to do anything other than replace the motor mount.

My daughter's 05 MCS has almost 100K on it and we replaced a set of rotors/pads, clutch/flywheel/pressure plate, a passenger seat air bag sensor, a passenger side window lock mechanism, and two motor mounts. That's on a car that has been to a few autocross events and she learned to drive a stick in that car.

Sounds as if the first owner may have been a bit tough on the car.....
