Seriously though...why a noisemaker?
Apology
My apologies to the noisemaker. As I accelerated in second gear this morning I heard the vent rattle! This was not the noisemaker making this sound after all!!!! It has to be a certain speed vs vibration frequency that causes the vent to make noise!
I've heard that vent rattle, it has to be a certain temp outside, only at a certain RPM, and it never happens with the A/C on....

Which vent is it coming from?
Hey Thumper...it's the vent just to the right of the speedometer.
Benibiker,
I think you are right. I have only noticed this on "cooler" mornings at somewhere in the neighborhood of 2800 or so RPM.

Just installed the noisemaker delete from Way. Thanks Way.
I actually looked at the noisemaker pipe from the noisemaker to the inlet pipe and installed the aluminum plug into this pipe. I found that if you take the end loose from the noisemaker, the plug will install into the pipe just before it goes into the noisemaker. There is a rubber abrasion ring on the outside of the pipe which you can slide out of the way to install a hose clamp. Then slide the abrasion ring back as close to the original location as possible. Reinstall the noisemaker so it still looks factory. No open lines and no opening going through the firewall. Still looks stock but no noise now.

Is everyone certain that this thing is a noisemaker? Most turbo'd engines have a spring-loaded waste gate that opens when the boost reaches a certain level, putting an upper limit on the boost.
My daughter's car (a Saab 9.5 turbo) has one. The Saab forums tell you how to block the waste gate and get extra boost.
