OEM Noisemaker Delete

I have started to fit my BSH OCC and at the same time am replacing the useless noisemaker part that mini chose to fit no the N14 engine with a simple pipe replacement from the 2010+ N18 engine.

Real OEM show the new part which I guess is without noisemaker here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...06&hg=13&fg=20

Although noisemaker is still shown item is number 8: 13712753078 which seems to have been replaced by number 8: 13717611120 after June 2010+

Noisemaker taken off my car can be seen here:

This has now been removed and will no longer be required. All it does is lose some boost by directing some air through the resonating part seen in the middle and sound into cabin.

The original part that feeds this can be seen here:

New part that will require metal joining part to be used form old part can be seen here:

With the Noisemaker deleted this should free up some space. Especially useful for the OCC install. Whether there is a reduction in cabin noise and performance increase at same time, time will tell.

You will see no performance change. The noise maker doesn't make the car "lose some boost" as you say. There is no actual exit from that pipe, so boost pressure will be the same before and after your parts swap. It's just a diaphragm that resonates based on the pulses in the intake.

Hey guys,

what do you use to cover the hole in the firewall? I am thinking of doing it but could not find anything to cover the hole in the firewall.

Please advise. Thanks.

Why is the car sounding quiter with the windows up a good thing? I don't hear the turbo at all with my windows up to begin with. I wish I could make the noise maker louder.

That is easy to do. Do the Noisemaker delete, get an intake and do the turbo muffler delete and all you will hear is the turbo spool.

the noisemaker makes a kind of fake sounding jet plane take off sound inside the cabin which i found a bit annoying, you get an intake along with the delete and you will get plenty of turbo noises, as for the actual noisemaker box i still have everything in place because i pop off my wmw noisemaker delete when i go to the dealership, so until my warranty is up i won't be pulling out the entire noisemaker unit

I just replaced the noisemaker pipe with the new factory one posted above, part # 13717611120 I had called the dealership and had to dodge a few questions about why I was ordering and would I give my VIN so he could check, in the end I paid little over 100 bucks but I wanted and OEM factory part.

I have to say though those hoses were a pain in the **** to get off, I can't believe it took me as long as it did, it's as if the rubber was glued to the damn pipes or something, I've had that much trouble just pulling off hoses.

anyway I can confirm that this part number gets you the straight pipe as pic upbove by the OP

I got mine at Sewell a couple months ago. I had to use some of the old hose becuase I couldn't get all the old to seperate. I let the hole left in the firewall where it came out open.

And it just came in today. It's funny my 2011 R56 is a 10/10 build but still has that sound chamber, weird. Gonna try to install this on the weekend if theres time.

You must've been right at the tail end of production. My 1/11 build didn't have it.

THIS!! Although, the noisemaker doesn't bother me I think it far more beneficial to dump that darn turbo resonator than the noisemaker. Then again I'm a big fan of hearing everything my car does.

I left it, doesn't seem to be a problem and nopismaker clipped in from the bottom on firewall so unless you go through a lot of water cannot see much getting up there.

Is that a fact? Others have stated that they do see less boost loss and that is what DoS advise on marketing their Noisemaker delete cap.

I find my car more driveable for some reaosn since this mod.

I just put on my forge noise generator delete pipe for r56 mini and i took off the oem sound chamber. What is the purpose of the sound chamber? Will I lose boost from the turbo?

No, it just makes an engine noise inside the car. Now that yours is gone, you will have to make the engine noises with your mouth.

You deleted the noise maker in order to make your car quieter, but you left a hole in the firewall? Cant the noisemaker-end, which is clipped to the firewall be cutted and used as a hole plug*? Im planning on doing this mod and want to understand. How much quieter is now your car? (*) Maybe such plug would have to be stuffed with something?

after reading this today i did the mod this afternoon. i did notice a dif inside engine noise wise. In my case i have the alta exhaust so i will take all reduction i can. To darn loud for me inside. as for the hole in the firewall i just used some metal tape and covered it. I will monitor it and see what happens.i would rather have the room in case i need to work in the area.

I removed my noise maker a month ago. A few days ago my daughter heard a loud noise and then the car started running like crap / massive loss of power. I have since replaced a few parts and am getting ready to clean the TB when I notice the plug for the noise maker is missing. So I am thinking hmmm...that must have launched like a rocket and that is the noise they heard. Would the car loose a decent amount of boost without? I am getting some MAF and TB errors but wondering if that is what is the major contributor ?
