2005 Service Manual PDF Download Available?
2005 Service Manual PDF Download Available?
Does anyone have a link or a pdf they could email me? I have a 2005 R50 European left hand drive version but any manual is better than nothing.
I searched this site and didn't find a reference (may have missed it?). I searched the internet and found one download which didn't work; a 2nd site which required registration and a third site which may have had it but I was lost in a sea of information...very nice site though
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks HRM. I found a free download for the owner's manual but I really want the service manual. Is the Bentley the factory original or something like a Haynes manual?
Here is the owner's manual link:

I read a post on another site which indicated Mini provides an electronic pdf to buyers. I bought mine used so I do not know if this is a fact. That site thread gave 2 links.
The first was for the Mini "Owner's Lounge".
https://ol.miniusa.com/
I didn't fully investigate because it required registration.
The second link was for a site which had some nice Mini articles but I couldn't find the service manual download:
http://www.motoringfile.com/index.php?s=service+manual
This link claims to have the service manual but when I try to download I cannot access the page:

Bentley and Haynes both publish service manuals for MINI (hardcopy, no pdf).
For using on a computer, search eBay for "BMW TIS". All pirated copies, of course (it is probably on torrent as well). The official, most complete, and up to date information (equivalent to what dealers use) can be found online at http://www.minitis.com/ (subscription $30/day). Bentley is essentially TIS material published in book form. Haynes is independently written and I like it for its compactness and electrical diagrams (not on Amazon but some vendors have it).

Thanks rkw. I will get a hard copy of the Bentley once it is back in stock on Amazon.
Since I don't have it yet is there a chance anyone could tell me the torque specification to use when installing the M7 strut top protectors on my 2005?

I'm going to assume that you are asking about the three M8X1.25 mounting nuts that attach the top of the strut assembly to the strut tower, the specified torque for these nuts is 34Nm or 25ft-lb. There is also a statement in the Bentley manual to the effect that you should replace these nuts and not reuse them because they are self-locking

Thanks Tom D; yes those are the ones I was referring to. I guess they must be something like Ny-lock nuts then? Based on the torque spec they sound like 9.8 or 10.9 and very specialized if they are self locking. Does that mean they are a dealer only item?
I also found this on Amazon:
BEST & COMPLETE MINI COOPER DIAGNOSTIC MANUAL 2002-06
http://www.amazon.com/MINI-Cooper-Di...3018586&sr=1-3
I know it is not a service manual but the price was reduced to $37.77 from $59.95. It sounded like a very nice book and I thought the price was very good. At first I thought it was a Bentley competitor but in fact it is by Bentley as well!

I don't think they are nyloc. In lieu of replacing mine I elected to just retorque them periodically. If I did replace, I would certainly get them from the dealer.
I recently got a copy of the Diagnisis Without Guesswork book you refer to. It has a lot of information about the operation and testing of circuits and sensors that is not completely explained in the Service Manual. Quite often there is a requirement to have special test equipment to analyze a malfunction, this manual would be most helpful to someone who was independently wealthy enough to have the required equipment. If I was that wealthy, I would not need to fix my car.
I think over time, this manual might pay for itself... I would certainly get the Service Manual first.

There's a new volume that combines both of the Bentley manuals. Way Motor Works apparently has them in stock: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...available.html
There isn't anything special about the strut nuts. They have some texture on the wide side contacting the tower, which could only vaguely be described as "self locking". The official BMW instructions are that they are single use nuts, and Bentley is following the BMW notes. However, generally everybody just reuses them.

That response put a smile on my face! I think regardless of wealth you still would....I would
I read one of the reviews which said they do try to provide ways to diagnose with a simple OBDII scanner and a multimeter. I agree the service manual should be the priority.
Thanks for the help to all
