Wheel bounce around corners

Hey All,

I had a question regarding cornering at moderate speeds while accelerating.

Is it normal for my front end to "bounce" a bit, as if the wheels loose grip, while accelerating around a corner? My 03 MCS is 100% stock. I do know my upper strut mounts are cracked a bit and need to be replaced, but would that really cause this?

I would like my acceleration around a corner to be smooth, with no wheel hop. Any help?

I would check the condition of your front control arm bushings, They tend to cr@p out over time.

Exactly.....lca are the culprit and the strut bearings will add to the problem.

Was it always this way?

Tire and wheel selection can add to this too....

check this out. Here people had the very same problem that was traced to the stiffness of the tires used.

I also found this thread. It's excellent reading (for the most part as well).

Depending on your mileage, the shocks could be suspect as well.

Do I have to buy the entire LCA assy or just the bushings? Are there aftermarket better than OEM parts? If so, could someone provide a link.

The powerflex units are fine....

and you can get the bare, or pre-installed into the bushing holder. The stock units degrade over time, and they are too soft to start with, this allows the control arm to move.

But I'm not in the camp that belives all these problems are from the LCA bushing. I'm in the camp that there is a suspension on the car that is asked to cover too many tire/wheel combinations and that means it's not optimized for the bigger wheel/stiffer or shorter sidewall combinations.

The LCA bushing will improve a lot of things, but like some others have found, it's not going to be a universal cure for "skipping sideways" in turns on rough surfaces.

Only replace them if they are bad......no one was saying to replace them just for replacements sake.
