CONDENSATION?!!?

Well Yeah i live in houston texas, home of the humidity.. BUT, this car has been truckin around the city since 2007.. why would my right headlamp (bi-xenon headlamps!) form condensation all of the sudden now?! I don't tinker with my car especially under the hood i do not mess with that or the housing of the headlights... so any idea of how that happened?

And ideas how i can get rid of the condensation? (My fellow got the same thing on her Scion tC last summer and it's still there! -i dont want that to be me)
Is my only option.. popping open the housing and cleaning it out? ..i'm not mechanical-savvy so i'm wary of fiddling with a $500 part!!!

-left headlamp is perfectly ok-

I suspect a seal has gone bad. I don't know if it can be repaired or not. Someone else may be able to help you there. You may have to replace it to solve the problem.

It's not the same thing but when my Mini and my wife's Mini were brand new 1 fog light on each car got condensation in the lamp and Mini replaced them.

Sorry I can't help you more.

Regards,

Pat

Its up to you if you want someone to fix it or fix it yourself. If you choose to do it yourself go and get some clear silicone sealer and take the headlight out of the car and stick it in the oven (WITH THE DOOR OPEN!!!!!!!) at around 200 to 250 and leave it there for a few minutes enough to split it open. Scrape of the old seal and let it dry out it in the a/c for a day then reseal it and place it back on the car. Thats what I would do.

Any chance you are still under warranty, that should be covered by MINI.

i'm probably still under the 4yr/50k warranty rather than that free maintenance one, not sure if it'll cover it, ..and i remember the mini dealer tried to charge me $120 for an oil change; It'll probably cost $250 to take a towel and wipe a headlight..
and i'm gonna steer clear from them because my OBD says it's time for service (not sure what to do about that one lol)

So i'll try out Porthos route i guess! ..i always wanted to "joey mod" those headlights anyway Lol.

I think you should be able to get the dealer to work on it under the warranty.
