I posted in the past that after a few days my mini will not start, the battery is dead. Since my last post I removed the battery, had it checked and made sure that I turn off the radio when I park it. Since this action it has been good for several months, but now... It has happen again! any suggestions ?

Something is draining your battery even when parked or the battery is not keeping a charge.
I'd have the dealer troubleshoot it and replace the battery if needed. But first check for the possible hidden source of the draining of the battery.

It amazes me how some small thing can drain a battery. I am guessing it is something that isn't shutting off that drains an otherwise good battery. Yes, definitely a dealer warrenty issue.

but here is an example. I thought the battery in my Saab was shot so I bought a new one. After taking two back thinking I still had bad ones, I asked a friend who fixes Volvos. We traced it to my habit of leaving the key in the ignition (in a locked garage). If I went more than a day not driving it, the juice from the ignition managed to drain the battery to a point of not even turning over.

When the Volvo guy said the car was telling me to take the keys I said something like "so the car's telling me what I can and can't do?" he said, "You have to understand it's a Lutheran car." Pure Garrison Keiller..

Good luck getting this diagnosed.

Two more dead battery stories.

First- about MINIs in the showroom. People leave the doors open or ajar or the rear hatch up or the lights on and the cars don't get run so the battery dies all the time. I was in a MINI recently that could not even play the radio and the dome light was flicking (halogen bulb!).

Second- If I leave my Honda Odyssey overnight with the interior light on the 2 year old OEM battery will drain dead.
Doesn't take much. A costco battery fixed that along with turning off the interior light switch all the time.

I have parked my car for two or three weeks and not run it and the battery started and ran the car just fine each time.
My MINI is now 9 months old.

That's a good experiment.

You know, the car knows when the key is even NEAR the ignition.

Try this:

- Leave the door open.
- Hold the key-fob up to the ignition.

If you hold it right, the "key left in the ignition" warning bell goes off.

So, maybe it was spending all night talking to the key.
