How to reset tire pressure light on 06 MCS?
How to reset tire pressure light on 06 MCS?
My low tire pressure light is on (yellow, not red) so I checked and all tires are at 35 psi. I called the dealership but they gave me instructions for the 2nd gen I believe as my OBC doesnt have a "service info" option. I found a button next to the emergency brake but that doesnt seem to do anything. The manual doesn't give any other options either. I did the soap test on the tires to check for a leak and everything looks good. Does anyone know what I can do without going back to the dealership for the third time this month?
Thanks
Thanks
The reset of the TPMS is done while the engine is running by pressing the button by the handbrake and holding it until the light stops blinking (holding it 10 to 30 seconds...I've had different durations at differend times). Once it stops blinking it will go solid on... lift off the button and wait until the light goes out... maybe another 30 seconds, then it's done.
There are two pages of instruction in the manual. Look in the index under "Flat Tire Monitor".
From page 73 of the '06 Owner's manual:
Initialization is completed while you
are driving, but you can stop the car
at any time. Initialization is automatically
continued when you continue driving. Do
not initialize the system if you are driving
with snow chains or a space-saver spare
tire.
1. Before a journey, start the engine, but do
not start driving.
2. Press the button until the indicator lamp
in the display elements lights up in yellow
for several seconds.
3. Drive off.
Initialization is completed during the
drive, without any feedback issued.

If after resetting the light continues to come on and your tire pressures are good, you may have a bad sensor on one or more of the wheels. The '06 and earlier MINIs detect tire pressure issues by a sensor that checks wheel speed and they can go bad.
