Car Shakes Only Under Acceleration and Only Above 60?

So driving around town the car seems fine, but when I get it up past 60 under acceleration it shakes pretty violently. I had the alignment and balance checked and bother were fine. The funny thing is, if I let off the gas the car coasts just fine, so I don't think it's an alignment issue. Could it be a loose engine mount or a CV Joint? If so would either of those things make sense if it only happens under acceleration and only above 60mph? Any ideas?

Thanks!!

The NAM Fam needs more info to help you.

Year, Type of MINI, Miles, Mods if any would be a big help.

I agree, more info like mods, etc.
If it's been lowered, there are numerous threads about axle and vibrations.
Mine has that vibration.

Nonetheless, I would have to say the CVs would be the first place to look.
After that, maybe the motor mounts, bent wheel, etc......

Good call, sorry guys I guess it didn't occur to me to list mods since the car is pretty much stock other than a JCW Steering wheel conversion, which obviously wouldn't be the cause. Other than that it's a R53 2003

Thatatvguy: At my last serv. apt the tech noticed that the CV cover was off, but noted that the actual joint was fine so I didn't think twice about it. But hearing you say that makes me wonder if the joint needs to be replaced.

Thanks!

oooo, yeah. The cover is what keeps the road gunk out of it. It won't last very long if it is open. The lube/grease will be dried up by dirt and then it will wear very quickly.

After I lowered my car I was getting vibration during excelleration. It was the CV joints because they were on a different angle than before. The bearings are riding in a different groove. It stopped over time.

When I had my Mini lowered I got occasional vibration. I raised it a bit and it fixed it, because of that same CV joint angle issue. But... I get the vibration again when the tires get a little low on air.

So make sure your tires are properly inflated too.
