I had this problem this morning. The doors were unlocked, windows down and the sunroof was tilted. It started to rain about 5 min after I got in the car, so I got lucky! Not to mention everything still being in the car...

Count me in too, Thankful I garge my mini, Its been raining/snowing all week here in Boston.
Came outside to find the windows half way down. But not only that but all of my computer settings had been reset back to default. blinker, locks, lights ect. BUT not the trip mileage or radio presest.
weirder than that though my aircon unit was set at low temp with the snowflake engaged. I had it set to HIGH.
But this is a big problem now, I find out, and I have been able to reproduce it 3 for 3, that the LOCK button on the key fob will UNLOCK my LOCKED car.
I called MINI and they said I must have hit the button in my pocket.
No. I told them I wear my key on a caribener clip on my belt and then the other issues and they had no comment.
I was just up there last week for service and got the new programming to fix when the windows wouldnt go up (window gremlins) and now it's worse!!
Seriously...WTFMINI?!

Kan, Naw I'm up at MINI of Peabody. Looks like I'll be up there again today too. This morning when I got to work when I shut the car off and got out to lock it and the windows and moon roof would open. No response from the key fob or door key. Had to get in and restart car each time to get the windows and moon roof to close. I ended up finally getting out of the car and locking it without them opening again so I called a co-worker for a wrench and disconnected the battery. called MOP and haven't heard back yet, said they would call me back
so it went from originally annoying window problem, to rather serious window issue, to Serious window and lock problem.
....SERIOUSLY....WTFMINI?!?!?!??!

Ok so update, as if things weren't worse enough go check out my post in the detailing 101 thread
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-mangled.html

The cars still acting up since Sunday morning, I have to disconnect the battery every time I leave the car

This has become extremely annoying and the security of my car has become compromised

I, for the time being, cannot take the car anywhere without fear that something will be stolen or vandalized by someone or the interior ruined by weather

They said that they would have to replace the door lock actuator and something else. It's slipped my mind
Also the physical key hole is messed up. I cannot insert my key into the car easily at all. thus meaning I need to also leave it unlocked where ever I go after I disconnect the battery

I Hate you MINI. Not my MINI, I love my MINI, I just hate corporate MINI for doing a $hitty job developing some of the parts of these cars

Windows Sunroof Automatically Opening

This is happening to me, unfortunately I live in Alaska so no Mini Dealer. I found if I leave the key in the ingnition, but pulled out so no electrical juice going to it that it will allow me to shut my door without the windows and sunroof opening. I can't lock it, but at least I can drive it until they can fix it. I am told that it is the door lock. For $300 bucks I hope it is. If this is a fault with Mini shouldn't they have a recall to fix so I don't have to pay. Not really happy with Mini's right now either. Timing belt broke last spring (under warranty at least), hood cable disconnected so could get under hood. Anybody else have these problems? Disillussioned right now :(

Very carefully read the Lemon Law for your state. Determine if the car is within/without warranty as it regards the Lemon Law. Work with your State Attorney General's office re: the law to determine within/without Lemon Law limits. In spite of what I am sure you will be told, this is a well documented problem. If you are beyond the limits of the Lemon Law, and you cannot trust the car, get rid of it. If you are within the limits, work with BMW MINI to resolve the issues. Be consistent, timely, and completely unemotional. You have legal rights: Use them.

If there is no MINI dealer, talk with MINI BMW Customer Service to find a suitable alternative. If there is none, get rid of the car. What is the use of having a car that cannot be trusted to keep its windows closed?

Sorry for this big topic bump, but I have similar problems. Windows rolling down, doors unlocking. My dealer already reprogrammed several computers just before Christmas, that helped for 1 day. Now pulled out de fuses of the windows to prevent them from rolling down.

The problem that remains is that my doors lock automaticly all the time, and no, I don't have the comfort access option . Locked myself out last day when mailing some letters. Left the engine running, got out of the car, closed the door....*click*......Thank god for spare keys!

Will be replacing door latch and lock on the driverside next.
