I seem to be getting a high pitch rattle behind the speedo when going over bumps. It's nothing serious, just kind of annoying. It sounds like a plastic on plastic rattle. Anyone else have this or any possible solutions? Thanks.

 

this is a notorious rattle. one guy had success with the dealer. they padded some stuff underneath the dash. i took a more crude path and stuffed some diapers underneath the center dash vent behind the speedo as well as where the dash meets the windshield. i already had most of the dash ready for removal doing some other installs. i recommend the dealer. convincing them may be half the battle. point out some threads here.

search around for that guy's thread. he left a work order number if i remember correctly.

 

I'd recommend trying to repeat it by banging the dash, or speedo, with your hand. If you can hear it by knocking it with the palm of your hand, the dealer has an easier time finding it. My dealer always takes my car out and claims they can't reproduce rattles. That is, until I take them out to the car and start pounding away!

I had a similar rattle I thought was in the dash, but turned out to be in the speedo itself. Not sure what it was, but it sounded like plastic on plastic. They got it fixed pretty quickly though. Good luck!

Have you got it fixed yet? I had my speedo replaced two weeks ago (after the dash had been twice replaced. Sounds like a similar rattle that I was having.

There was another piece that was loose and needed to be reattached on the speedo as well as more insulation installed per some bulletin.

So far not more noise (3rd times a charm right?).

 

I haven't had it looked at yet. It's only when it's cold and not all the time. Next time I'm in for service I'll have them address it. I'm do for front brakes in 4300 miles.
