I have an 03 Mini Cooper unmodded. It has been great. Then 2 nights ago, i start my car and the SES light comes on with the following codes:

P0445 (MINI FC 1093)
Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circut Shorted

P0031 (MINI FC 49)
HO2s heater Control Circut Low (Bank 1 sensor 1)

P0037 (MINI FC 55)
same as above but, sensor 2

P0340 ( MINI FC832)
Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circut

Ever since the light came on, my gas mileage has dropped significantly and my car doesnt start right up. If it does, it will idle, sputter and then idle again and from there it will operate fine.

I have seen posts of this happening before in other MINI's, but do not know how this issue was resolved. I replaced the only blown fuse:

F41 5A Park distance control unit/power to K69923, Relay fan steering control module/pump

Does anybody have any helpful information regarding what could be wrong with my car?

 

Ever find a solution on this? My 03 S is throwing the exact same codes and runs about the same. I'm dead in the water.

My '04 had the same codes yesterday. I was thinking it was a fuse, but they all seem ok. My AC doesn't blow cold since it happened either. Any luck with your problem?

 

sounds like your fuse 3 (in the engine junction box) is blown. all of those are connected through that fuse. Replace the fuse and see if it blows again; then find your short. I'd bet your ehps fan is siezed

56rfixr was correct. Although I checked the fuses several times with a volt meter. It took a mechanic quite a while to discover it as well. Take the fuses out and LOOK at them

 

Im having the same problem .i fixed the fuse ...camshaft sensor.....now about to change o2 sensors...any sugestions i need help

 

Check to see if you have any shorts in any of the wires. I fixed mine because my 02 sensor was rubbing against my heat shield and shorted out.

 

this was my problem! i had to drop the exhaust last winter to change the shifter cables, and the o2 cable had rubbed thru and the insulation on 2 of the wires was gone. some cloth tape and and it's good to go!

You checked the fuses and the relays in the engine compartment box?

 

 

I just wanted to chime in that I had these exact same codes on my 2003 R50, as well as the DSC dynamic traction control light was on and would not turn off with the toggle switch. 56rFixer was spot on with the F3 fuse in the engine compartment. Mine however was not blown, just had some corrosion/oxidation on the contact legs of the fuse itself. I put a new fuse in and immediately the DSC light went off, but the check engine light was still on. I did notice though that my car fired right up, which it wasn’t doing previously and I knew that hard starting issue was related to the cam position sensor. I drove the car over to Autozone about a mile from my house and asked them to re-check the codes since my check engine light was still on and clear them, but the guy working wouldn’t clear the codes and said they couldn’t do that there. So he printed off the codes and all were still the same which I thought was odd considering my car was running 100% better, , no more misfire, no more sluggish acceleration... I went on to work at this point. After work a few hours later I started my car and no more check engine light! Has been running normally all day. Thanks for all who contribute here, I thought for sure I needed a cam position sensor and O2 sensors and it was all just a single corroded fuse.

 

Same Problem with my 2005, F3 fuse blown. Made a huge difference.

Just thought I'd add myself to the roster of people with a blown fuse. Thanks again to 56rfixr for the fix! I'm going to go over everything later and see if I can tell what's blowing the fuse, but it was indeed fuse #3 causing the problem.
