I have around 7200 miles on my clubman and for about a month now I have noticed a high pitched fart like noise from the engine when I shut down. It only lasts a second or so. I recorded the sound and placed it on my website. Please take a listen.

Not sure.. I had originally posted this incorrectly in the first gen stock problems and there were a few people with the same problem. I dont notice any performance drop, the car drives the same as usual... just that freaky fart noise at the end when I shut down.

Possibly a sticking diverter valve.

 

Its probably the turbo expelling pressure when the engine shuts down. I've noticed this on mine, but it does not whistle like yours. Why don't you just ask the dealer to have a look at it. Its still well within warranty.

 

ok I got this from my MA. After hearing the clip, he says it is the turbo winding down.

 

It does seem louder, but I know mine had a whistle sound when the engine shuts down. It was the water pump. It would also whistle at idle, but I can't tell how similar your sound is
