Drivers door latch dead

Does anyone have a clue how to open the door ? Latch will not release from either inside or outside. Cable to inside handle came loose at the latch mechanism. Repaired that and all was well for a day. Now it won't open from either inside or outside. Can hear mechanism trying to work but the rotary latch thingie does not release. Need to remove door panel for access which doesn't appear to probable without using a sawzall with the door stuck shut. Anyone have any suggestions? Reviewed the threads and all seem to relate to freezing which doesn't seem likely as it's 80+ here in Ohio.

Yup! Works now but had to take it to a dealer. Put a new latch assembly in. Not sure how they did it without using a can opener. Embarrassed couldn't figure it out but they did it under warranty. No complaints here

my 1 year old son pulled my latch out, took a #25 torx and a $7 pry tool. lock popped back in pretty easily. its held in the plastic slot pretty flimsily I think, so I can see it popping out if banged real hard.

Previously had the problem with the inside handle/cable operating system. Fixed that. You're right, a little flimsy(?). This was with the actual latch/lock assembly in the back of the door. Inside and outside handle and mechanical linkages were working properly, just wouldn't open the door. MidWest Mini got it open somehow and replaced the assembly in the door. Don't have to practice yoga to get in and out now.

The outer belt molding on the door just pulls up, exposing a gap big enough to get a tool in there to release the latch.

I have just had this same thing happen on my 04. It is the passenger side though. How much did the dealer charge for the fix?

My fix was a freebe just barely under warranty. Think it's about a 2.5 hr fix and that latch assembly is like $105 on internet, undoubtedly more at dealer.
