'02 MCS 6sp Shifter problem
'02 MCS 6sp Shifter problem
OK, first let me admit that my problem is a result of my "man handling" my shifter while trying to find 1st gear in a turn during a auto-cross. BAD BOY. Now for the problem: my 2002 transmission with 36000 miles on it shifts great in all 6 forward gears, but the Reverse gear gate has become almost impossible to find. When I move the shifter to the left against the (resistance spring?), the lever will move too far left past the point where you would move it up into the reverse position. If I hunt around, I can finesse it into the reverse slot, but it is obviously not right. Any ideas what to look for & where I could get a parts diagram for the problem would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I live 700 miles from the closest Mini dealer, but do have a basic mechanical knowledge of the car, a Bentley repair manual and perform most of my routine service work. Never been into this part of the car though. Thanks all. Any help would be appreciated.
Possibly something in lug was damaged. See http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...86&hg=25&fg=05
There are 2 different lugs and you'll have to see yours to ID the proper one. There may be parts inside of the lug that are damaged and it seems it's a sealed unit.
