Empy Gas Tank Makes MCS run better?

I noticed as recent as today that my MCS seems to have great throttle tip in and acceleration (non-sport mode) when my gas tank is almost empty. This is promising since I'm schedule to take the Mini in because I feel the acceleration has not been what it was since I puchased a month ago.

What are the benefits of burning the tank low?

Could I be getting air in my tank?

What are your thoughts?

I burned the tank low to get some bad gas out of my tank. Then I filled up with Chevron Super and put a bottle of Techron in.

That's exactly what I was about to say! My Outback is always zippier when the tank is low. It's not a good thing though!

Or maybe it's because it's in a hurry to get to the gas station.

Good to hear that your car feels stronger again

I don't know of any benefits of burning the tank low except less weight ~6lbs per gallon. However, as many others have said, you can burn out the fuel pump prematurely if you run it low on a regular basis.

I never go below 30 miles like the manuel suggest. I have 50 miles to go on this tank.

Also, thinking about the power issue. It's very HOT in Dallas, Texas. I heard that heat does effect the power and efficiency of turbocharged cars. Anyone heard that?

heat is the enemy of engine power regardless of if the engine is turbo or naturally aspirated. however turbo/super charged engines do suffer worse due to the nature of turbo/super chargers. since they are designed to pack in more air by compressing it, the hotter, less dense air will decrease power.

A 13 gallon tank will hold about 100 pounds of fuel, so a nearly empty tank would affect the vehicle acceleration. I don't think it would be that big a difference, but you may be able to notice.
