P0073 Error code?

I hooked up my new Scangauge II today and it read out this code. Found on Mini2 it means, P0073 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High.

So what does that mean? Car runs fine and temp display is normal.

It means:

P0037 HO2S Heater Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2

Now, what that means I have no idea.

More than likely it means your Ambient air temperature sensor is malfunctioning . I'm pretty sure any DTC will be talking about something engine related, not the OBC Temperature display. The engine has sensors to measure ambient air temp.

I had the front bumper repainted. I wonder if they moved the car after removing the bumper and had the sensor disconnected. Maybe that stored a code. It seems to be working just fine, reporting the correct temperature.

Disconnect the battery for a bit and see if it will reset.

The Scangauge will let you reset it. I'm going to see what my SA says and then will reset it and see if it comes back.

you might not want to let your SA know you have the scanguage.

Have you guys tried to access your codes via the trip computer? I just accessed mine and it said it was "OK", but it'd be interesting to see if you can extract the real BMW error codes right from the dash.

It doesn't affect the car from what I can see. I don't see why it would make any difference if they knew about it or not. Does every one remove their Alta gauges and pods when they go in for service to hide them? At least the scangauge doesn't need any modifying of the car like Alta's gauges do.

Don't say I didn't warn you if you let them know you've been reading and clearing codes.
