05 Auto Tranny Issues... Again!

Seems like I just can't cut a break....

That "EP" issue that I had been having with Austin is back AGAIN! I'm really not relishing taking it in for the third time in 3 months to have the same darn thing fixed. I'm pretty close to calling "lemon law" on this (even though I got the him used with ~16k miles).

Sorry.... I've just got to vent about this.... I've only put 2k on the car in the 60 days I've actually been able to drive it! I've grown to love my MINI a whole bunch, but this is gettin' goofy now!

Sympathies greatly appreciated....

I can certainly feel your pain. I picked up my '07 on July 17. It's been in the shop for the last 3 weeks with an unknown fuel injection problem. I have just over 1000 miles.

Good luck - I'm thinking about you.

My sympathies for your troubles. You may have some problems pressing a lemon law action. For starters, you got your car used. Depending on the law of the state where your car was initially delivered, you may or may not have coverage since you purchased the car used. Separately, you may have too many miles on the car. Again, you will need to check the lemon law provisions of the state where the car was first delivered.

Hope you get your car sorted out.

Yeah, the lemon law thing probably won't work (besides, that was more of a "heat of the moment" comment); I've cooled down a bit since last week.

I should find out today what the outcome will be. :impatient They've flown in a MINI Rep. to take a look at the car to determine what they're going to do. I'm told the dealer has had to do this only three times since they've been selling them.

The current rumor going around the shop is that he'll probably say, "Replace the whole transmission."

Stay tuned!

Update: the Transmission Control Module is on order and set to be replaced. That is the current verdict.
However, the MINI rep. said that if that doesn't work, they're gonna have to do the whole transmission.

Fingers crossed!

At least they are taking care of the problem. And at no expense to you, by the sound of it.

Indeed they are

And once again, the service guys at MINI of SA are just so gosh darn friendly and wanting to keep me in the loop every step of the way; I can't say enough great things about them.

Plus, I got a Chevy Cobalt loaner car on their dime (even though it handles like crap and has no power)
while the car is being fixed.

Update #2: The TCM was replaced, but won't take programming (feels like déjà vu from last time I had Austin in); a new one is on it's way today and should be here tomorrow (already pre-programmed). Crossing fingers....

As a side note, the Cobalt loaner is lookin' mighty fine... (just kidding)

I'm having the same problem, but it'll only be my second go around. I usually drive to work in stop and go traffic. The problem only seems to occur when I have some spirited driving using the paddle shifters. I'm going to try to bring my car in monday, and if they figure it out quickly I'll let you know.

Good Luck.
