yes, it's plugged in. no, the fuse isn't blown. Any ideas??? I'm stumped...going to pull it a apart this weekend and check for voltage at the molex plug.

it stopped working at some point awhile back. it used to work. I had everythig apart to install my JCW leather dash and downtubes at some point. I pulled it back apart yesterday thinking I had forgotten to plug the socket back in....that wasn't it.
car on?
Not to nit pick, and I'm sure you checked, but it doesn't work with the car running, right? They don't work at all with either the key in or out without the car actually "on."
BTW...I checked today...the rear socket works fine. If they are on the same circuit, I either have a bum unit or the plug isn't fully seated. Either way, I've got to tear it apart again (not worth a dealer trip)
No not same
I decided NOT to assume they were on same fuse and lo' checking the legend on the fuse box cover I discovered the cig lighter fuse was blown....so I still don't know what fuse the back outlet is on, but know it is not the same.
A new fuse fixed his immediate problem.
spousal unit had driven the car from VA to FL recently and uses a car charger for cell phone which I never do. The cig socket was loose and a tab broken...it is not very strong. I suspect some twisting to get a charger in or out at some time resulted in a broken tab -twisted soc - crossed wire and blown fuse. I had him buy a Radio Shack two outlet expander that bends 90 degrees.....now he can plug the gps and HIS cell phone charger PLUS keep the twisting away from the actual cig lighter.
