There was a thread on Mini2 awhile back where you turned your key on while holding something, left foot in air, etc... The display would then show you some stuff. I'll see if I can dig it up.

See ya tomorrow night and Sunday!

I did find the thread that Jim refers to (sorry, no time to find it again and link it here)...and it doesn't actually ever end up saying if software version is part of the info encoded in that display that you get by turning your key, crossing your fingers, and blinking three times

The short answer is that I don't think anyone knows the answer to this without having the actual MINI computer to plug into the car's OBD port. Bummer.

No - DO NOT UPGRADE - if you are having no problems. You are probabaly pre 33.1. I just went from 33.1 to 33.2, problems with both. 33.2 is smoother (less yoyo), but still has stutter. If you don't have the stutter now, and upgrade to any current software - you will get the stutter.

I just had the DME re-programmed to take care of the cod start problem. It started first time this morning, rather than the usual 4-5 attempts. I've not noticed any bad effects of the upgrade.

I've no idea though what version I was upgraded to as the service techs wouldn't tell me. ( I guess I could have pressed them harder but I wasn't in the mood)
