Stumbling
i noticed on your other thread a guy told you to get the new software upgrade
when is that needed?
i have a 2003 mcs with builddate of 11/02 and no problems, do i need to upgrade the software as well?

If it's the same thing I just started to have it's a misfire. Feels like it's skipping a beat? I notice it happens at lower RPMs and usually when I floor it. It has been suggested that a new software update will fix it. However I haven't actually gone and done it yet.

I'm with MINI USA. I'm so sorry you are having a problem with your MINI. If you haven't already been to your dealership or spoken to your service advisor about this problem, you really should. We'd be happy to contact your dealer for you if you'd like, but your authorized MINI dealership can easily check what software is currently installed in your MINI, and update the system if needed. If you'd like us to assist, please call us at (866) ASK MINI. Otherwise, good luck and let us know how it goes.
Hello MINI Division! Here's the problem...I HAVE the latest version of the software (33.2) according to my dealer, and THAT's what brought on the stumbling.
Do you know of any solution beyond the current software? Is there a more current version now (or soon) available that will solve the problem?
Thanks!

Hello MD! Apparently the upgrade from 33.1 to 33.2 which was supposed to fix the cold start issues actually induced the stumbling.

I'm watching this issue with great interest. My buying decision will be based on it.
I find it suprising that BMW can write software for F1 engines, all other BMW's and have such difficulty with the MINI. Moving the hesitation from low RPM's to a high engine speed is not very impressive. I would have thought these problems would have shown up in computer analysis of the fluid dynamics and such. Or is the software attempting mask a problem with some design flaw or manafacturing variences ??
I am also hearing rumors that all coopers are very vulnerable to drawing water into the intake ?? I can't just pullover or slow to a crawl every time it rains hard !!! I won't put my family in a car that may stall or stumble pulling into traffic or be drowned out by somebody passing me while splashing through a puddle.
Don't get me wrong I want this car, but if these problems are still on-going when my
build date comes in August, I will have to pass. I drove my my Miata through standing water several times without an issue, so obviously it has nothing to due with the ride height or the size of the vehicle, more likely a design flaw.
I know I am glad I missed out on the leaking coolant tanks. That's for sure.

I just picked up my MINI yesterday (06/02) and have not noticed a stumble and believe me I tried to get it to stumble. My MA could not tell me what version of software I had. I am also babying the car for the break-in period so I haven't dumped the clutch, but I've tried starting all over the RPM map and still seems to work great.
>>my MCS stumbles off the line too, I thought it was sucky clutch release on my part. I'll check to see what version software I have.
can you give me a ride in your mini? i dont think mine stumbles, but then again i dont know what the stumbling really means?

This is the link to an extensive thread on the stumble.

MINIDivision, can you address this issue? Please read the entire thread, I think you will get an indication of the seriousness of this problem, and how it is affecting owners and potential sales of the new MINI. I would think MINI would not want this issue to create a bad reputation for the car. Most of the MCS owners in our local club have the stumble, and are very upset and concerned about MINI/BMS's lack of progress in solving this serious problem.
