Me and my MINI comming soon

Hello all, Me and my MINI will be moving to St Louis this summer. I am in the USAF and will moving to Scott AFB sometime mid summer. I am going to miss motoring all over Germany and being able to drive 100+ MPH on the autobahn. Oh ya, I will miss the GREAT Beer and Wine as well, but thats another story. I look forward to hanging out with you guys,
Cheers

I will be the first to welcome you to our Club. You will be in good hands as we too (as a club) partake in Great Beer and Wine (see our club event photos). The St Louis area has quite a few Winery's and Micro-Breweries which we have visited. It's not Germany, but it's the best we can offer. By the way, where are you stationed at in Germany ? I am an Air Force Brat (from many years ago) and we were stationed at Ramstein AFB and I remember the autobahn and Oktober Fests very well . BE sure to let us know when you get to Scott AFB - we'll be sure to roll out the welcome mat for you.

Hey, I third the 'welcome' !

There is decent wine and beer here in the St. Louis area. The 5,000 lb gorilla (A-B) makes two beers I like---Amber Boch and their newer World Lager. I never tried the local wine until I did the winery cruises. There's some good stuff, so I think you will be reasonable happy!

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

My brother lived in Munich for several years and we were fortunate enough to be able to visit him when he was there. We had a great time and loved the country.

In my opinion, I would have to say that German beer is in a class of its own.

Like Lois and MsBrit have said, there are quite a few wineries in the area and it seems as if this part of the US is giving the more traditional wine regions some serious competition. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but my wife tells me that the wines are quite good and that I should be enjoying them.

Best of all, getting to many of these wineries requires traveling on roads designed for a MINI's excellent handling.

Thanks for the info on the wine and beer. One more question, Me and my wife are from Texas and she wants to know if there are any good country dance halls in the area. Me and her have been known to do a little two-steppin every now and then.

Thanks in advance,
Jason

Jason, Welcome!! I assume you'll locate in Illinois, somewhere near Scott. There is country western club very close in Collinsville, IL. Wild Country its called. Plenty of country music fans around. There are quite a few of us in the club from the 'East side' so you'll be in good company.

Saying Hi Too!

I'd like to welcome you to the St Louis Area. Lots of great roads for motoring here and in southeast/southwest missouri. The roads aren't straight but you will get to really see the responsiveness of your MC.

Soon, Mr Sun will be joining the group and motoring around the Kirkwood area. This sounds like a good group.

Gemini Sun
Waiting for Mr Sun to arrive.

Working weekend duty here in Germany today and looking though pics at the http://stlmini.com/ site. Looks like a good time.

I messed up my front end last weekend driving back from a ski trip this past weekend. It was my fault; I bought snow tries one day too late. Looks like my insurance will go up a bit. On the bright side, I see an Aero Kit in my near future. I will send pics when I get the MINI fixed.

Cheers,
Jason

Wow, sorry to hear that (or was it a setup for an Aero Kit? ).

Would like to welcome you back to the U.S. and thank you for your service.

Thanks again for the welcome, I must admit, I have tested my MINI alot on both the twisty backroads and the Autobaun here in Germany. I am SOOOO going to get some speeding tickets when I get back to the States. I am used to driving 100-120 mpr on the Autobaun. Sometimes me and my wife drive just 65-70 mpr just to see how that feels and let me tell you, THATS SLOW. I hope the judge will let me pulll the "I just got back from Germany"excuess the first 3 times I try to fight my speeding tickets.
Cheers,
Jason
