Euro Plates

Going over our site, I noticed that Mike R. has a Euro Plate on Squirt. What I want to know is have you ever got in trouble for driving around like that? I wanted to get one to replace my front plate. (Its a little mangled from a former crash). Anyone else drive around without a front plate?

In states that require a front plate, yes you can get a ticket (some give you points, most give you a remove warning you can have thrown out by showing a court or sherriff's office). In states that do not require a front plate, it's clear - vanity plates are fine.

I have never had a front plate on my S and have never had a problem. Mike has gotten two $5 tickets in Maplewood for no front plate. I keep mine under the passenger floormat so I can quickly put it in the front window if I get pulled over! :-)

I refuse to drill into the front bumper and ruin the line of the car.

I have no front plate on my Miata & have never been stopped but several Miata Club friends have been stopped especially in the West County area(Ballwin, Creve Coeur, Manchester). My MINI has both plates on. Just don't want to take the chance with the STL County Police lurking in my neighborhood.

Thanks for the info. I have like three cops who live on my street. Only met one once, and met him the hard way. (Was speeding in a school zone the day I lost my job. Oh yeah, great day for me. )

No plate cost me plenty

Be awhere in Saint Charles County. I got stopped there for speeding, 20 over, and the cop told me what really got his attention was NO FRONT PLATE. He thew the book at me. So I have gone with a Vanity Plate, both front and back, "COUP S", good luck, just be careful in St. Charles County, I still am.

like aaron said, i've gotten two $5 tickets in the same exact place in maplewood. for me, it's a small price to pay. i've gotten, uh, "a couple" speeding tickets and have never had it added to the bill like doug (zinful).

on my wife's new mini we have the aero kit that installed costs a hell of a lot of money and there's no way i'm gonna drill two holes in it and make it look like hell... when she gets her plate, she'll keep it under the front mat like aaron and i do so it can "appear" on the dash when necessary.

pulled over in ILL

I live in ILL and got pulled over for no front plate, just got a warning, but I asked the local cop what the fine would have been and he said if he would have given me the ticket it would have been $25 but if the State Police would have pull me over it would have been $75 , So needless to say I am now running with the front plate , until I go to Alabama and register my car there then I'LL get a vanity EURO Plate.
