ANOTHER STL MINI CLUB EVENT LET'S GET A BIG CROWD SO EVERYONE CAN SEE OUR MINIs & RAISE FUNDS FOR A GOOD CAUSE.
Event: Greentree Festival Parade
Saturday, September 17, 2005
Time: 8:30 a.m staging at Kirkwood High
Theme: Greentree: At The Movies!]
Ulterior Motive: Raising Funds for a Good Cause
”At The Movies” is the theme for Greentree Festival Parade. In keeping with that theme, STLMINI will portray (non other than) “The Italian Job.” Fun will abound as we decorate our cars with gold bars, don our safe cracking gloves and think up clever ways to portray this great action flick for the enthusiastic crowds that always line the streets of Kirkwood for this parade.
This is a charity event raising funds for the Safe and Secure Car Seat
Outreach program. 100% of the funds raised will go to the program. Registration is only $10 per car. Extra donations are not required, but welcome, because any funds collected above the $10 per car fee will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $200.
Please respond to this thread or email me at lois@stlmini.com if you plan to attend.

This sounds like a very fun event!
I would love to participate, but unfortunately I'll be lucky to be an observer, as "wee one" is due to make her/his arrival on Sept. 9th.
I hope this is an event the Club can be involved in every year, so maybe next year we can particpate. After all...won't Italian Job 2 be out before then?

. We definitely need to have a hyper blue or purple haze(not sure which one), chili red, and a pepper white, the orginal colors of the MINI's in the movie.

Okay. Now that I know I don't have to use the Car-B-Que's raindate, I'm 100% sure I'll be able to actually be in the parade!
So, let's see those replies and have a great turn out for this event. We'll be helping a great cause. It's great visability for our club and the Greentree Festival is just a really, really cool festival.
I can't wait to see all the kids' (of all ages) faces light up as a group of MINIs comes down the street.

I hope to see you in Kirkwood High's parking lot tomorrow morning at 8:30!
Don't miss this great opportunity to help fight the #1 cause of child death in this country: motor vehicle accidents. Many of these deaths and injuries could be prevented with child seats and the proper installation and use of them. But, many families cannot afford to provide these. You can help make a difference in the St. Louis region!
Again, it's only $10 to get your car into the parade. And any additional money you feel like donating will be matched up to $200! Please, don't let this free money just sit on the table and go unmatched!
You don't have to do anything special to your car, just show up and take a nice slow drive through historic Kirkwood and enjoy the day. Talk about a feel-good event!
The parade starts at 10:00 and should be done well before noon. After the parade, I am planning on drinking a beer or three on my deck. All are welcome to come by, take a load off, and have a cold one.
Our cars may be small, but our hearts are huge. See you tomorrow morning!

Sorry I won't be there, guys. (Got a field trip to go on.)
One suggestion for candy though: Hershey's makes those mini candy bars wrapped in gold foil---quite appropriate for the 'Italian Job' theme!

Rob's got the PW with black bonnet stripes and I have a CR/W with stripes. We've got the S and non-S colors reversed, but that's okay. We need an IB/W or HB/W with white bonnet stripes to show up and we've got a pretty close trio of MINIs for the movie deal!
C'mon blue MINIs!
C'mon blue MINIs!
Well, we did it
Our little band of MINIs took 3rd place in the parade
We have our first Club trophy & a big smile on our faces because we were able to help our charity out also
Thanks to all the pioneers for coming out:smile: Next year we'll be the old pros

What a GREAT time!!
Thanks to all that participated!
As Lois said, we took 3rd place for interpretation of theme! We received a cool plaque and $100 worth of gift certificates to PJ's Tavern here in Kirkwood for our efforts. (I hope all participants enjoy their free food and drink -- I recommend the smokehouse burger.) Everyone attending the parade loved the MINIs! All the kids loved them and it was cool hearing everyone's comments about our cars as we made the slow journey through the town. I hope to have pictures up on the site in the near future.
We are planning on doing it again next year! Although I doubt we'll ever get as good as a theme as we did this year.
And let's not forget the REAL reason for the event -- we raised a total of $350 for the Safe and Secure program!
Way to go!

And thanks to Christine for organizing. I couldn't do "my job" without all of your help
