Anybody see the Barrett-Jackson Car Search last evening?
Premise is that 3 teams get $100k each to buy 4 cars, they auction them at Barrett-Jackson and the profit goes to charity. Last night, one team bought the Classic Mini from the new Italian Job (the one that Charlize Theron drives) for $5k. Seems that the studios use a car and then sell it for what ever they think is fair. This Mini was in mint condition and they offered $5k, they have yet to say what it was auctioned for (the website doesn't say either), but their estimates concurred with mine ($25k-$30k).

Glad you guys are watching the show. I worked on the series and as a result of the Mini episode - as of yesterday - am the owner of a 2004 MCS! Funny how that car in particular inspired the production crew - me in particular. If you liked the show, be sure to let the History chanel know what you thought - maybe we'll get another season!

Laclede,
I saw the B-J show last night, I can't believe they purchased that car for only $5000. Then again after watching the final episode where there was the controversy about their purchase, and they were disqualified it makes you wonder how that sales agreement read. Either way it sure was one fine looking MINI. If I was there, and I had begged, borrowed and stealed, I would of went $30,000. Of course it doesn't matter, it sold for $39,000, WOW!!!
