Hey all...Ginny and I were out at West County Mall yesterday, and while she was looking for shoes at "Journeys", I noticed that they had a pair of the MINI John Cooper Works Onitsuka Tiger shoes on their clearance rack. Turns out that they were one of ten stores across the chain that tested the shoes out for potential stock. When the test ended, the company decided not to go forward with carrying the shoes, so they are putting them on clearance just to get rid of the stock they had left.

Here's the cool part...if you look up the shoes in the MINI shop ( www.mini.com/shop ), they are just over $130/pair before shipping....but Journeys had them on clearance for $59.99! I'm pretty sure the guy told me that they only had two pairs left after the ones I bought, and I have no idea what size, but if you're interested I'd suggest stopping in sooner rather than later.

I realize the shoes might not be to everyone's taste, but thought someone local might appreciate getting a deal on them, too! I've attached a picture from the MINI shop so you can see what they look like...

I have always worn tigers but never knew there was a mini style

 

Yep...if you look at the shop, there are actually quite a few...including "Camden" and "Mayfair" styles to go along with the 50th anniversary specials. The Camdens are kind of cool...

 

I stopped in there on the morning of the 7th and couldn't find any MINI tigers. The salesman didn't know anything about them either.

 

Not sure what to say...I know they told me they had two pairs left. Maybe the salesman you got just wasn't familiar with them, as I'll bet they hadn't pulled another one to put on the clearance rack. Sorry about that.

 

I hope I didn't sound upset that there weren't any shoes to be seen, I was trying to simply add information to the conversation. I'm glad when people post this type of info, and you made it clear that you hadn't yourself seen the other two pairs of which the salesperson spoke. I knew it was a long shot, expecially considering shoe sizes, and I appreciate you giving me the chance to get lucky. Thanks.

If I'm out that way again sometime in the next few days (and wearing the shoes), I'll stop in and ask about them.

 

Just an update...I was back in Journeys at West County today looking at shoes for my niece, and saw one of the guys that helped me with the JCW Tigers I bought. I asked him about what other sizes they had left, and here's what he told me: In the dark green and black as pictured above, they have a 9.5 and a 12. They also have one pair of 8.5 (I think) in a red and off-white combo, but I haven't seen those to know what they look like.

Not sure if that helps anyone, but thought I'd pass it along. I'm pretty sure the guy I talked with is one of the managers, but it's hard to say for certain. He did seem very surprised when I told him how much MINI wanted for those exact shoes on their own website!

Glad you were able to get them! Funny thing is, we bought the pair of red/off-white ones they had, but this time for Ginny. After she saw the pic I posted and confirmed that they were the same ones, she had to have them! Guess that means they're down to just the one pair left..
