Anyone Like Pasta???
Anyone Like Pasta???
Hey all, I am the new guy on the block, but I have a question.
My Brother-In-Law is a restaurateur. His family is involved with a few restaurants in Clayton and just recently opened a restaurant in Frontenac (Sugo's). It has been in operation (soft opening as they say in the bizz) for just two weeks. The place is serving up some great Italian food in a very comfortable, yet casual setting.
Is there any interest in getting together and eating there some evening? Price is comparable to Pasta House, and (wisper) the food is MUCH better!
Double edge sword: We could all meet up someplace for a happy hour drink and then invade Sugo's!
Any interest?

Well, so far there will be a parade of 2 mini coopers!
I am sure others will get out of their MC's and spot this thread and what to join in! I am pretty flexible with the day.......... We will see Lois! Look forward to meeting everyone (I just missed the October meeting).

. Looking forward to meeting you LtRex
P.S. The PC term for happy hour, is social hour

Mark
Pasta..................YES!
Sounds like a great idea.............why not make it "The Club" social hour for Dec. give the new place a shot of business and have a "Toys For Dots" collection at the same time.
Just a thought, since the Dec. social hour is open.
Cheers,

Alright! Looks like there is some interest! I know how this type of thing is done on two wheels, what is the standard practice with the MC Club? Perhaps, someone who has guided this boat takes the helm and I watch how it is coordinated? Or would you say we are off to a good start?
Toys for Dots Collection. I will learn what that is too!

LtRex, first read this thread;

Then, just run with it, it's yours, and so far your doing a great job. Organizing an event is neither brain nor rocket science. You just do it, and it will be wonderful
As to the 2 wheel vs. 4 wheel, well lets just keep all 4 pointing down, and all will be fine.

lotsie (Mark),
I appreciate your reply! I am the new kid on the block and don't quit know the protocal yet, but the thread you referred me to has been very clear. It reflects a very clear desire to have a healthy, enjoyable association within the "club."
Okay, I will take the wheel!
Since this is the nineth posting (and three of them are mine), I will look at the calander and post a few tentative dates for the first part of December and see if any interest.

mtchbox,
I am sorry to say, they do not have Gluton Free.
Have you found many places that do? Would you normally have to ask when ordering, or are there places that are known to have GF pasta.

mtchbox,
No need to apologize!!
This was the first year of my 49 years that I experienced ANY problems with allergies. It seems that my system does not like the elevated mold counts this year due to the rains.
I could make a salad out of poison ivy if I needed to!

Thank you for a time specific reply. I know that Sugo's is not open on Sunday, so that would leave Saturday. Having said that, if there is enough of us, he would likely open on a Sunday for a private dinner party. That is assuming there would be 30 - 40 of us. Again, I am the new guy, and I don't know the response to these type of things.
So, we have ONE that would prefer a weekend (Saturday). Other ideas?
Let me know; I am so easy, I should be outlawed!

The Christmas Lights Rallye is on Saturday Dec 13, so don't pick that night. Throw out some dates & then see what works best for most people. You won't be able to please everyone. Let me know the details or post them here on NAM & I will gladly send out emails to the Club members for you.
Hey, Lt Rex, we drove through Frontenac tonight in the new Clubman. Were you around?

Lois,
How nice of you to offer to send the emails! I will take you up on that one!
As for tonight, no I was nowhere to be found!
I will be working again Wednesday and Thursday (days). Feel free to make yourself known, you can always throw my name out, that will calm the dogs!
I will look at my schedule to make sure I don't exclude myself from the Pasta Run and post potential nights. I will exclude the 13th, cause you just can't compete with Christmas! "I'm just say'n"

Okay, I looked at my schedule and I also took into consideration that going beyond mid month may infringe on the holiday last minute crowd. I know I will likely fall into that crowd!
Now keep in my my profession; it does not offer the typical work hours most of you may have come to love.
With that nonsense being said, I have come up a date:
Wednesday December 10th
5:30 - 6:45 PM "Social" at Lester's 9906 Clayton Road http://www.lestersrestaurant.com/tour.html
7:00 PM Dinner at Sugo's Spaghetteria 10419 Clayton Road Menu: http://www.sugoscucina.com/menu.html
As suggested, we can make this our monthly social!
To recap, we will assemble and enjoy a cool beverage. Lester's would work just fine for me, assuming everyone would know where that is, and then we take a short ride to Sugo's.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Mark has Optimist meetings on Thursdays, so I pick Wednesday. But I will come regardless of which day it is on.
Is Sugo's inside Frontenac Plaza, Rex? I would suggest setting a time for dinner also, as some may forego the Happy Hour & just join us for dinner.

StLouieLo,
Sugo's is next door to Huffard's jewelers, just west of the plaza entrance on Clayton Road on the north side of the street. Brand new place. I think you will like it.
Wednesday seems to make more sense to me, in as much as it will break up everyone's workweek, and Mark can make his Optimist Meeting (and be available to attend and explain to me what that is!
).
I will amend the post above so those who would rather skip the happy hour (aka social) can just meet for dinner. Nice idea!
