THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED

The next Los Angeles BMWCCA Autocross is Sunday December 17th at California Speedway

You must be a BMWCCA member ($40 and totally worth it for the Roundel magazine and the chapter newsletters). You will need to show proof of current membership status. Your BMWCCA membership card would be preferred, but a current copy of the Roundel with your name on the address label OR a print out of the confirmation you got from joining BMWCCA online would also work.

Cost for the event is $65

LOCATION: California Speedway

The autocross will be in the Green Lot, but you should plan on entering at Gate 1 (on Cherry)



NOTE: California Speedway has a 25 mph speedlimit on the roads inside the speedway property. There is a little bit of leeway on that, but security does try to enforce that (by kicking people out). At the April autocross at california speedway a spectator left the green parking lot at WOT. Suffice it to say that BMWCCA wasn't happy about that and security did show up (though the spectator had departed).

TIMES: Gates open at 6 AM. Registration starts at 7 AM and is FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Registration continues until 7:45 or until the 80 car limit is met.

CLASSING:

There are two MINI Cooper based classes (stock and modified). Based on the current L.A. Chapter BMWCCA classing standards for stock and modified:

• MC and MCS with struts, any wheels, any street tire (wear rating above 140), and intake/cat-back exhaust would be "MINI Stock"
• MC and MCS with anything else (rear sway, ECU, race tires, springs, front and/or rear camber, supercharger pulley, weight reduction, chassis stiffening, etc.) would be "MINI Modified"

Spectators

The cars are randomly put into the four run groups so there should be MINIs running in every run group. First car out is usually around 9-9:30 AM with the officially timed events starting around 2:30-3 PM and finishing around 4:30 with the trophy presentation around 5.

Dinner Following The Event

We will be going to dinner following the autocross at Daphne's Greek Cafe. To get to daphne's from California Speedway, return to the 10 West and proceed to Milliken Ave (the very first exit past the 15. NOTE: the exit comes up fast following the 15).

As for your brother, I didn't see any discussion of age in the L.A. chapter BMWCCA autocross rules, but you should probably write Gio to get clarification

Will I have to go in the modified class just because I took my rear seat out?

 

Hey it's 2x3x3 and a wake up. Time to spit shine your driving shoes.

 

The only permitted mods for stock are: struts, front sway, intake, exhaust, wheels, and street tires with wear above 140.

If the rear seat delete is the only mod you've done outside of that list, then I would just register in MINI stock (and if you want to be totally legit throw your seats back in). Honestly though, we rarely if ever have anyone racing MINI stock, so there may not be anyone else even in the class.

That said: the day of the event if it looks like anyone else is in MINI stock, just chat with them beforehand to let them know you've got the rear seat delete, it's your first event, and if it's ok with them you'd like to run in stock.

 

Thanks for the Tip. It would be sort of a hassle to put them back so ill just leave them out for now.

Since Chip started organizing the dinners in San Diego, it only seemed right that we follow his lead and do the same for the L.A. events.

 

.........rock on Dave.......so just the MINI's will be going right.........not the entirety of the BMWCCA...........Winner of the MINI Stock class has to pay for dinner....as does winner of the MINI Modified has to do the same......
