south bay mini question

i'm sure many people have bought from russ fowler at southbay mini.

it's been 6 weeks since my deposit and no production number. i know i'm an impatient SOB, i just want to be sure nothing fell through the cracks. at the same time i don't want to be too much a nuisance.

anyone else in the same boat now or in the past?

Hey, sorry you are in that not quite on order, don't know what's going on boat. I never had to order mine, so I really don't know how it works. Sorry.

Best of luck to you. Are you going to the Aug. 5th run?

Karen

I do know that they have a pretty decent backlog on their orders, which is why we ordered from Universal Mini they only had a 8-10 week delivery time.

Now I just wish the boat would get throught tha Panama Canal and get to Port Hueneme.

Can't hurt asking again. It'll be especially important to find out if you're still going to get an allocation for the 06's before they start building and shipping pre-spec cars only.

Good luck!

I'd call your MA and ask what's going on. I'm using South Bay and it took 4.5 weeks to receive my production number. They can tell you what status you're in and whether or not you have a number yet.

south bay mini

I ordered/put deposit down at South Bay Mini on 5/27/06.

I got my production number on 6/9/06 (call from my MA)

I got my VIN# sometime around 6/23/06 (call from my MA)- longer wait than expected based on info from these boards.

I got the date that it shipped/name of boat on 7/16/06 (call from my MA)

Keep in mind I told my MA that I read these boards and that I find out stuff quicker here than him so maybe that's why he called me. I never had time to call the mini number but read that it's highly recommended. I NEVER found out what "production" week I was in other than reading these boards based on the info I did have. (I think I am PW28)

If it's been that many weeks I would for sure call the ask mini number or ask to speak to someone else at SBM OR ask them why there is more info on these boards..... so far aside from not knowing my production week, my MA has been spot on (though I do email him about what I am reading, haha).

Overall I am pretty happy with South Bay Mini thus far.

I ordered my MCS from Long Beach Mini and it took them 4.5 weeks for them to get me my production number this week. Know I have to wait a few days according to my MA for the owners lounge database to be upgraded before I can sign up. Hang in there, misery loves company.

Wow, that was really quick! What are your specs and are you getting a MC or MCS?

my mini is pretty bare.

MC pure silver/black top/chrome mirrors and chrome interior. thats about it. I plan on getting black bonnet stripes later (i dont like the dealer installed ones that dont go all the way to the edge with white pin stripes nor the cost, and I want my stripes wider, more classic mini looking) and i plan on getting some after market driving lights AND tinted windows.

What's yours?

Sounds nice! Bare is cool, then you just add as you go!!

Aftermarket stripes are the way to go! Much better quality. Oh and I'm a chrome lover too!

I did the opposite and got it loaded. Here's mine:

MCS; Pepper White/Black; Cold Weather, Premium, Sport, and Convenience Packages; LSD; Web Spokes; Rear Fog Lamp; Chrome Line Exterior and Interior; HK; Anthracite Headliner; Center Arm Rest; English Panther Leather; "Seven" Piano Black Dash; Security System.

Mine won't be finished until August 16th. I think yours was so quick because it's an MC. Probably has to do with the queue or something.

yours sounds super sweet! color combo was my toughest choice. and i feel lucky that i dont care for many of the pricey options for myself. i cant wait. this process doesnt feel fast to me at all.

funny part is ALL my friends and co-workers who keep asking me where my "new" car is and i tell them... on order....on a boat...etc. none of them realize that all mini's are special ordered (unless you buy off the lot, which are mostly orders people flaked on picking up..). and they all mostly think im nuts being on a message board about it.. cept the ones that know internet is my job. haha

Some of my friends don't get it either. I find forums helpful and full of info and fun for that matter. I belong to 2 MINI forums, a Boston Terrier forum, an aquatic photography forum and several reef and fish forums. I bet there are forums for everything. Hmmmm.... who else has a stainless toaster? Let's talk about it!

hey all thanks for the info, everybody... i spoke to my sales guy at south bay mini. he was understanding. i don't think he'd mind me passing on what he said for others in my situation.

naturally they have their own waiting list for each model.
the hardtop mcs waiting list is the longest
on the 20th of each month they get production numbers from factory, and give them to the next people on their list (lists for each model).
automated email is generated.

i'll throw in that he said mine is 10th on the mcs list and he expects to get that to come up next month.

so i feel much relieved... not knowing is the hardest part. and it's good to know our mini dealers read our posts here, and are interested in the community.

neuralstatic that's great! I'm glad you got some questions answered. Waiting is tough but most of have or will go through it.

Where would I have gone pearface?

I think before boards everyone chatted in chatrooms. Wow, that was a while ago. I guess some still do but back then it was very innocent. I've made some friends online, a few I've known now for over 8 years.
