Good luck-

Been there - some of my daughter's *friends* when she was in high school egged my black F250 pickup.

Rather than painting the entire hood and risk a poor match or going to a traditional body shop, I would suggest calling Chips Away and see if they have a local rep in your area. Their repairs are excellent, typically. You can also consider calling some local car dealers and see if they have someone they use with a similar type of system.

You can report this to law enforcement as a vandalism and have them take a crime report so you can have your insurance company pay for the repairs.

Did you anger any punks in the neighborhood?

lately we've seen a bunch of broken egg shells and stains out on the streets near our house when we walk the minibeagledog - keep worrying that some kids driving by will egg us . fortunately, our mini is garaged at night and that seems when most of the egging gets done around here. some new/revised fad? i thought egging went out years ago.....

Wow... from eggs to thermonuclear warfare... that was a rapid escalation.

I had the same thing happen to me once (in an almost new Celica) ... I was so mad that I drove off to get estimates on the repair and rolled a stop sign and got a ticket. Definitely one a bad day.

I don't think the kids realize how much damage they do to a car... an egg thrown at an velocity will crack paint & can break glass. Left uncleaned it can also damage the paint.

My condolences smokinMINI.

They could have made it worse by cracking the egg on the car and letting it bake on the paint in this 100 degree heat! I've seen that cause some serious damage!

seriously...the heats killing me and my mini....ive been reading some posts about other owners who have experienced unexplained cracked windshields....as mentioned, mine cracked but i doubt an egg could do such damage.....anybody think its worth trying to get it covered under warranty?

This is what an egg does to paint. Egg thrown at a 2005 black Corvette

There's nothing that can be done, but to repaint. It's not a harmless act. It's not about the egg yolk causing damage. It's the tiny shards of egg shell that cause the damage. Such a foolish and cowardly act.

I'm totally feeling your pain. I had my first car (honda civic) hit with an egg and chipped the paint. Luckily the car was new....so I went thru my insurance and had it repainted. Looked good as new.

crazy! I was making meat loaf the other day, and as I cracked an egg into the bowl I remembered when I had egged someone's house. I was 17. What the heck was I thinking? But, that was about the worst thing I had ever done. Well, there was this one TP incident..

My GF car was egged the first night we were in LA on the way to SD for school. Then her car got scratched by one of the guys at the car washing place. Needless to say, it was not a welcoming week in Socal.

The EXACT same thing happened to me last night. I was at a friend's Christmas party and my husband came outside to look at another MINI owner's car and noticed the egg just behind the gas tank. It couldn't have been on ther more than 20-30 minutes, between when it happened and when we found it.

I so hope you are wrong. It was a long day of driving home today, so tomorrow my first course of action will be to wash, then clay bar the area. If I don't see any results from that, I'll go ahead and get the buffer out and see if I can smooth it out.

My husband says he thinks the reason I was the only MINI of all those who were at the party is because I still have the dealer's paper tags. So I guess kids want to deface the newest toy? I don't know but it just makes me sick.

Me wrong?? Maybe I will be in your case, but guess we will just have to wait and find out. But if paint is missing, you can't claybar missing paint and expect it to look better, and you can't buff it to make missing paint look better. Hopefully you don't have any missing paint.

Yeah, well you were right. I clay barred and buffed and its a little better, but its still there. Since I bought this one used and there are several little door dings, I just applied a polish over that area and I'll keep an eye on it. If it starts flaking off, I'll see about getting it repainted, otherwise what's the point. Someone is just gonna open their door into it again and I'll be really mad. Nope, I'm not gonna worry about it.

Sorry to hear about the egging. We've had several incidents in our neighborhood this year, too. Both our daughters are graduated so we thought we had that kind of thing behind us. But, bored rich kids abound, what a drag, they have no idea how much damage and heartache they cause.
