Brecht selling for MSRP!

Somewhere, pigs are flying and Satan is buying long underwear: Brecht's ad in the Union-Tribune on Saturday advertised 40 new MINIs in stock, with no mark-up. It was funny because they stated it as "no mark-ups here!" as if they never charged them before either.

With 40 cars in stock, and more 06 models coming, I'm sure they are feeling antsy about getting them out the door before the new 2007s arrive. I imagine they'll still mark-up any special orders, but if any San Diegans are looking for an 06 it would be worth checking Brecht's stock.

Unless you want to hold their past (and probably future) mark-ups against them, of course!

Wow. Those pigs are for sure at the end of the runway, motors revving...

Now if only BMW would allow a MINI dealership in San Diego proper, or at least authorize other BMW dealerships to service and repair MINIs. Of course if that happened, I'd be sliding down hill with a bunch of Flexible Flyers to sell to Satan's minions...they would need them!

The 2007 models will be the new everything. According to the timeline on MotoringFile, the last of the 2006s will be built in November, then all hardtops will be the new body style, engines, etc. Convertibles continue in their current iteration for another year after that.

I placed my order with Long Beach Mini (was on a waiting list for less than 4 months) earlier this month because of Brechts outrageous markups! Brecht wanted +15% for a built to order, with so called "deals" on in stock inventory. I wonder if the no markup only applies to the non-S Cooper.

ohh man...thats a though one...do I wait...or just go for it.

I want the Cooper S Convertible with pretty much everything in it.

BUT, i would hate to get mine and the 07 have something way wicked and i buy an out dated machine (i really havent kept up with the news about them either)

on the other hand, 1st year modles are usually the post problematic...

i dunno what to do now

Many people are struggling with that question! Check out motoringfile.com - they have a good recap on the changes on the 2007 (2008 for convertibles) MINIs.

If you want a convertible in the new model, you'd really be getting a 2nd year model since the hardtop would have been out for a year before it arrives. On the other hand, you'll have to spend an extra year without a new MINI.

The 2007s will be turbos, not supercharged, if that makes any difference to you, illegalprelude.

I just bought my MINI in Los Angeles for MSRP last week. Brecht had a car I wanted but would not sell for MSRP without adding $1700 in crap I didn't want.

I should have known not to believe their ads! I'm glad you got a decent deal in LA, at least. That's a lot more convenient than mine that came all the way from MINI of the Hamptons. Happy motoring!

This might be the wrong forum here, so I apologize in advance but...

Has anyone discussed, in any forum, what growing pains we might anticipate when Mini introduces turbo?

This is so like Harley Davidson back around 2000 when they were in short supply.

Try the 2007 MINI Talk forum. I'm sure people are discussing it there.

They're moving from a Mopar/BMW engine to a Citroen engine. Maybe I'm oldschool, but considering it's both a first year of a newly designed engine and the design is of French heritage, I wouldn't jump on it right away.
