Any Mini Drivers Around the 909?

I recently got my 06' mcs and just curious if anyone is around my area to take drives with, or cooper meets. Hope to hear from everyone soon.

I live in Corona. Mostly I go canyon carving on my bike, but the canyons are fun in the MINI too. The best local roads include Idyllwild, Ortega, Angeles Crest, and Palomar. I also like Glendora Ridge Road when I don't feel like going too far.

Organize something! I'm in.

Well I work in the 909 and since the new area code changes, I now live in the 951....like the MINI owner from Corona, I am usually in the canyons with my bike or my MCS. Hit up http://www.scmm.org for more IE club members.

Wow that's pretty far Idyllwild's pretty far from me. I'm from Upland, yeah I wanna start a little drive. I'll think about where would be the best places are.

I live near the 15 and 60. From my house to the Starbucks in Banning is just short of 45 miles. From there to Idyllwild is a great ride/ drive lasting about 25 miles.

From there I like to head through Warner Springs over Montezuma Valley Road down to Borrego.

Next is the Banner Grade to Julian for pie. Mmm...pie... From Julian to Santa Ysabel via Wynola Road.

Then up and over Palomar and back home. This is definitely a long day. For me, it is a 300 mile round trip and about 7 hours including a stop for lunch. But a ton of fun packed into half a day (I like to start around 6am and get home by 1pm to spend the rest of Sunday with kids).

Just one alternative. There are lots to choose from.

A really fun drive is to take that back road to Idyllwild from the 60 and follow it on through Anza, then on to Julian from there (it's a two lane, highway most of the way). The road is one giant twisty and can take a bit longer but is really a fun day!

I think we're talking about the same road. Highway 243 off of I-10 (after it merges with the 60 if you're coming from the west) in Banning up the hill to Idyllwild, right? Is there another road (a back road as you suggest)? If this is a different one, then I definitely need to drive it!

That's the road! If you follow it all the way through Idyllwild and begin on the 243 around to catch the 74 and go east to the 371 South.

Or you can go all the way east down the 10 to Monterey Ave and go south all the way to the bottom of the mountain. Then you follow it up the hill (highway 74) and at the top is the road to Anza (highway 371). From there you can go catch the 79 - the back way to Julian through Pala. It is a really fun drive. You can also go west a bit from the 371 on Wilson Valley road - a really twisty drive - to Sage road, another twisty, and catch the 79 from Sage road. Either way you end up on the 79 to Julian and drive by Lake Mathews.

I'm somewhat familar with that area. My girlfriend use to live in San Diego and we would go out to Julian and surrounding area. That would be a nice drive now that I have my MCS, but I'm up in San Jose
