Greetings from Nor Cal

We just spent the week in the LA and San Diego area. We saw lot's of MINI's on the road, but none of you waved back!
What's the matter with you people?
No MINI spirit! Too self-absorbed with your cell phones and Starbuck's drinks, I suppose!

I'm originally from LA and now every time I visit, I do notice that there are a bunch of MINI's (more than I see in North Cal) and I don't get a wave back also... South Cal just seems to be a bit of a "rush-rush/time is short" attitude than North Cal...

I'm 100% sure these are non-NAM members...

I'll bet your right!!! I wave, honk, flash at all MINIs/Minis IF I see them in time, and I'm always watching for them. (My wife thinks I'm obscessed but she's right as usuall). I know a lot of people don't wave back but it ain't us it's them.

I love SouthCal but haven't driven my MINI there yet. After waving to folks in my town (San Francisco) during the first 2 weeks that I got my MINI and eliciting only one wave in response--and I am unsure if she was waving to me or punctuating her phone conversation--I gave up. In retrospect it might have helped if I had only waved to MINI drivers.

While driving in West Sac I waved to a woman in a cooper and she waved back with her phone. She looked to be in the middle of a conversation because she took the phone from her ear to wave at me with it and smile. If I am on the highway I try to wave to all the other MINIs but am usually to slow to react. But on the surface streets I usually get a response, in West Sac, Sac, and Fairfield.

I haven't driven my MINI in West Sac, Sac or Fairfield but I hope to do so soon. I ordered a bike from a frame shop in Rancho Cordova (via Internet) and want to visit them when it's ready. I will be sure to wave to MINIs while in the area. Thanks for your info.

What you ran in to was all those guys who bought at a California dealer and paid a premium. They weren't looking for a "MINI experience" they just liked the car. They don't get it. I ran into a lady (in my town even) who bought at Brecht. She had a real nice CR MCCS. I parked next to her, she had the top down so I said hi! She finally acknowledged my presence and I mentioned she nought at Brecht. She said "yes, i just walked in got what I wanted on the spot." I asked her if she was a member of any clubs, keeping in mind she's retired and about 67, she says "no, too busy with working full time and going to school full time". Oh I said. See ya! Really uppity person. Creepy. She wouldn't wave ever.

I used to get a lot of "shaka's" in my Corvette and when I first got my PT Bruiser lots of waves but once the car loses it's "novelty" and there are a lot of them on the road people stop doing it. There's at least 2-5 Mini's I see every day in my neighborhood driving to work and back and I think they are different ones each time. It's just great seeing so many variations of the same car.
