Oh no!!!!! no Lojack? Not a bad idea when insurances don't cover dealer mark-ups. Hay sorry to hear that, hope you resolve your nightmare soon.

Let us know what insurance you have and how they treat you.

Sliver:

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Gone two days already -- doesn't sound good. Do you have any idea how they got the car? Did they break into it, or just tow it away? The color--dark silver?

We'll hope for the best. Please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear.
Friend of mine had his DS ripped off also. He himself spotted it being driven by the moronic punks not far from where it was stolen. After calling Corona PD, his MINI was recovered.

Let's hope you have the same fortune.

We'll keep an eye out here in Simi as well. Just curious, what alarm (if any) did you have? It seems to me almost impossible to steal a MINI without the laser-cut key, unless it was an inside job from someone at your dealership?

Sliver, I have made a mental note of the license plate. 5KAP370. I will be looking for it, and I promise I will hurt the bastards when I find them. (SO let me know what you look like. LOL ).

Sorry to hear about that, thats some terrible news man.

I hope the thieves die when they get out of the car.

I've seen on the news where the theives usually get your VIN number and pose as you at the dealer to get a spare key.

They recommend covering up your VIN # that you can see thru your front window.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your car - I've had a prior car stolen - you feel violated.

That sounds like a STUPID dealer that would not require POSITIVE ID and also check with the selling dealer to make sure. If I were the dealer I would ask where you bought the car and check with MINI USA to verify it.

Now, if a dealer made you a key for my MINI I would sue that dealer and it would be Earl's MINIs after that.

The keys were stolen. They were in the center cosole of my Tahoe. Broke into the Tahoe to steal the radio and they found them. I will never do that again.

What would you leave your car keys inside anoither car in plain view?

Sorry, I guess living in Miami you become extremely obessive about taking security precautions.

The keys probably weren't in plain view. The guys who stole it probably got lucky. Van Nuys is not the Garden of Eden either.

The keys where not in plain sight. I am still banging my head against the wall because of this. I bought the car in Texas and drove it back. The insurance can never cover my loss. Do you really have to rub salt in my wounds. Does that make you feel good!

Not at all. This really stinks and come to think of it...probably the thieves were not even interested in the MINI, but as soon as they got a hold of the keys, they struck gold.

You may not like this, but pray so that the car is never found or found in pieces. you don't want that car back. Who knows what has happened inside that car in the hours it has been away. I would be disgusted to drive around in a car that was stolen and probably used to commit a crime, yuck!

Let this experience be a painful learning experience and move on. Keep us informed on the search progress, but like I said, you'll be better off having this one declared a total loss and order a new MINI. Just think of your car keys as paper currency...don't leave them around.

Good luck.
