Long Beach MINI just tried to bend me over

LB MINI, when you guys do a good job I praise you publicly, but when you guys try a fast one, I'll make sure people know about it also.

I took my Cooper S into LB MINI this morning to get it fixed. The black plastic on the front passenger windshield pillar flew off last weekend on my way to Mammoth. Granted, I was doing 101mph, but still, it shouldn't fly off even at 140mph. I know for a fact that it flew off as a result of it been not properly replaced by LB MINI about 8 months ago. (This is my first time going over 90mph since then) I even pointed it out back then that the plastic pillar was not sitting properly flush.

Well I just got a call from my Service Advisor, and guess what he starts telling me. He tells me there is no way it could have fallen off, because the screws were still in the pillar, and that someone definitely broke it off. He pretty much accused me of lying.

I was driving when this black pos flew off, I even had a passenger who can vouch for me. But what do you do when your SA says you are full of it, when you are actually telling the truth?

After the phone bashing I gave him he speaks to his Manager, and then tells me that his Manager has agreed to fix it, but just this once, and I tell him, well if they do the job properly they wont have to fix it again. Seriously... get the EFFING thing right. This is the SECOND one to come off because they didnt put it on properly.

So to any of you who use LB MINI, be warned that they can be tricksy and false when you least expect it.

Better yet skip long beach mini and go to south bay mini. They have gone out of their way to give me great service since the day they opened.

That's a shame that poor customer service still exists.

I work for a company that is BIG on making GREAT customer service. They tell us:

If a customer has a good experience, they go and tell ONE person. If they have a BAD experience, they tell TEN people....

Do the service departments not realize this!?!?!

I had the same thing happen to me. Drivers side pillar molding flew right off on the highway. They said they have heard of it happening before but it is very rare. It was fixed under warrenty no problem.

Yeah, so have I. Don't worry, your "bad experience" number will come.

An update, they fixed the moulding, and did a better job than the last 2 times, so hopefully it will never come off again. I pulled the SA aside and assured him that the piece flew off, and he said, quote "Well we all looked at it and it looked like someone grabbed it and pulled, but I guess it could have flew off, stranger things have happened."

I just wanted to strangle him. "NOT COULD HAVE MOEFOE... DID!!!!!"

On a better note, I got the iPod interface installed and it's actually pretty sweet.

I guess in this rare case, getting a Hummer would be better...

Sorry, I saw an opening and could not resist!

Oh wait! um....

I better quit while I'm ahead...

I have my own LB Mini horror story, but not enough time to set it out right now (again!!!). My 2 cents is this. The service techs have always done good work on both of my MCS's. It's the service advisors and in particular the service manager with whom I have my problems. I will never use them again.

Ya I like the techs so far... I've never came back with more problems. They always seem to have fixed what I ask or need to get done.

Service Advisor... ummm I had a not too favorable one before but now I've found one I really like. He knows me and takes really good care of me. I will only go back to him.

Uh O... I was wiping my windows today and I noticed that the passenger side A piller cover is comming loose. the gap at the bottm of the cover is much wider than the one on the drivers side. I tried to push on it but it doesnt seem to "snap" back into place... I might have to bring it to my dealers attention before it flies off when i'm on the freeway. Whoever is following behind me wont be happy if that happens.

Any suggestions on getting it securly back on or is it a dealer trip?
