Crevier MINI Rally - who went?
Crevier MINI Rally - who went?
I was busy with other Mini (vs. MINI) stuff yesterday and didn't make it there on time. I stopped by the dealership at about 4:00 and Kirk told me that there were over a hundred cars and everybody had a great time. I regret missing it. So who was there, how was it, and - most importantly  do you have pictures?

I went, but I didn't see one hundred cars. I thought the drive around the different cities was really nice; since I'm from the Lomita area, I never get a chance to see Laguna Niguel, Balboa Island, Dana Point, etc. I was a little disappointed in that I thought that we could arrive anytime... so, it took us an hour to get there, and upon arriving at 9:00am, the last wave of cars left! So, when we got around to picking up our "treasures", there were none left. We did get to enjoy the ferry ride, though. That was cool.
I thought there would be more sponsors... so I was a little disappointed. I thought the best part about it was the drive. Really scenic, and great weather for the rally.
Maybe if there were signups for departure times, it would have been a bit more organized. I was under the impression we could arrive anytime. Luckily, I wasn't the last car...

I went and here is what my e-mail said:
CREVIER HAUNT THE COAST MINI*Rally
This Sunday, October 10th!
7am - 4pm* (Check-In 7-7:30am, First Departure Group at 8am)
We are starting and ending at Crevier MINI
Scenic drive, good food, GREAT gifts at the drawing (I didn't win anything), gift bags for everyone with a shirt and hat. I had a good time as did most people who went I'm sure. I liked the ferry ride best, even if the ferry could only hold four MINIs/Minis at a time (like a mini ferry).
Although, I will say last years was better -- starting in San Juan Capistrano, going over the Ortega Highway (nice curves), through Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and back to Santa Ana.

I had a great time.
I went, it was my first event of any kind. Met some nice people. Best part, by far, was the driving. Prizes given in the raffle were very nice. (Ipod and sirius radio being two I was particularly interested in.) Ferry ride was nice, but I spoke to many people that said the route was much better last year.
That is one dealer I loathe. I called about a MINI they had for sale back in July. They quoted me a price over the phone which I drove from downtown LA to the OC to buy the MINI and order one for my dad. I got down there after sittign in traffic for over an hour, and they said sorry we can't honor that price we quoted you after making me wait 20 minutes before someone would help me. Then I got to drive back through LA Friday rush hour traffic.
Being quoted a price on the phone coming in to buy a car and order another (cash mind you) and being treated like Cr@p, losing an afternoon, and not coming out with a car is enough for me to boycott them and give a negative review to my friends who now want to buy MINIs based on seeing mine.

Positive: I visited every dealership in Southern California and liked the sales people at Crevier the best. Kirk is a good guy and the people in the showroom remember me and greet me when I pop in once in a while. They are all MINI and automotive enthusiasts and that is important to me.
Negative: I had to pay more than sticker, but that is the market and part of the cost of living in California. I am over it. I am also not 100% pleased with their service although it appeared to be much improved over what it was when I had my BMW.

I also went on Sunday.
THE GOOD
-Nice and early. I was home by noon to spend day with family
-Weather. Could not have been nicer
-The people. Everyone I met was nice and pleasant
-The lunch. The BBQ was a nice added bonus, but I thought the
food itself was average. I am a BBQ nut...
-Exhaust, Ipod, and Siurus radio raffle
-Nice freebie Crevier ID badge holder thing
-Was able to check on the Cabrio in person. Love those 17" bullet rims!
THE BAD
-The markup on the cars available. Even on the base Cooper!
-The freebie white Crevier ball caps. Most thought they looked cheesy...
-Should have had the parts counter open with a 20% off everything sale
-ALL Mini owners with Crevier Mini service receipts should have been
invited, not just owners who purchased a Mini from the dealership

Rick,
Here are some shots that I took at the rally. You'll see the ferry ride, the jewels collected, the corny Creveir hat, and some folks.

Enjoy!

We had just crossed on the ferry and this guy was walking her (14 months old) We pulled over and asked if we could take a couple of shots of her. She was really cute...growled at me while I was taking her picture.
