Hello Fellow MINI Lovers! I am in need of some help!

As some of you know I am an avid mountain biker. In Orange County this is becoming a crime. If the trails aren't being closed for our use it is being paved for mass use. The environmental impact of paving is HUGE!!! Not only is this trail a place where we ride 3 to 4 times a week it is also a trail where we have a chance to encounter frogs, toads, coyote, deer and various other living creatures. I'm asking everyone to please sign a petition I have up to stop the city of Rancho Santa Margarita from paving the Arroyo Trabuco Wilderness Trail. (the ultimate plan is to pave this trail go all the way to the beach!!! that would be over 20 miles of asphalt!!!) If you could please forward it to all your friends and family that live in Orange County it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone 18 and over can sign and as long as you have an email address multiple people in one house hold can sign.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I am a little pressed for time at the moment so I must keep this short.

Thank you for your time! And Thank You for helping me out!

-Cynthia

That sounds horrible! :???: I don't know people in Orange County but is there a different way I can help? I love to hang out in isolated areas and enjoy mother nature that is away from the city.

It is quite horrible. This "plan" has been in the books for nearly 15 years. Which makes it in their favor.

I appreciate your kind words! Contributions for lawyers are always welcome. $$$ can be sent to "The Committee To Save The ATW Trail" P.O. Box 80877 Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688. All donation money will go towards litigation.

Thank you!

Thanks for bringing this back up Juan. I don't hang out on this site much anymore and I totally apologize for not updating it. The sad part is that they indeed paved the trail. It made me sick to my stomach the first time I saw it all paved over. We did make them leave a 2 foot dirt trail on each side of the paved portions for us runners, mountain bikers and equestrians to use. I knew from the get go that we would most likely not get them to stop the paving but it was worth a try or at least I thought. Since the deed has been done not much else has happened. The county now has officially posted warnings of the munitions they have found in the area (gee, nice of them huh?) and now since it is paved people totally disregard the "No Dogs" sign. I actually stopped one lady that was walking her extremely small dog that there was a sign posted for NO DOGS and she replied that she thought the sign with the big red slash through a pic of a dog meant that the dog had to be on a leash. I almost laughed at her. It's amazing how people interpret things differently! Especially the obvious! So I proceeded to tell her that I have run into some pretty fearless (not lying) coyotes and she should be ware. So I guess when Fifi goes missing and they retaliate by finally ridding the ares of all wild things will people finally feel save in their homes. I for one will pack my bags and head out. I'm thingking New Zealand. I moved to the sticks because I enjoy the sticks and all the creatures that live in them.

Gees, sorry about the rant! <steps off soapbox>

Thanks for the support from everyone here! I certainly appreciate it!

Cyn,

I guess I knew the answer beforehand, having been born and raised in OC.
It is sort of sad what South OC has become. I remember all the open spaces with little produce stands on the side of the roads.
