personal plates. how long to arrive?

has anyone else ordered personal plates recently and how long did it take for them to arrive? i ordered mine at the beginning of feb and still have not received a postcard to go and pick them up. i'm worried the postcard may have gotten lost.

thanks in advance.

i've heard people getting them quickly but also people waiting a RIDICULOUS amount of time for them. why not call the dmv to find out if you can spare a few hours on the phone listening to elevator music

I know our state orders them from Texas as most states do, I got "YIPPEE" in less than two weeks. I'd call tomorrow and give them the tracking number the DMV put on your copy of the registration.

tracking number? hmmm you guys must have a MUCH more organized system than we do. all we do here is place the order online- i don't even recall a confirmation email. i NEVER got anything other than a charge on my card. they say turnaround is 8-12 weeks... this being the 11th week. checking the plate i chose it does come up as unavailable (RFIFTY), that's some consolation i guess.

i'll try them tomorrow. called today at 4:55 and of course they were gone. i was just wondering if anyone else out here in socal waited a long time for theirs.

ok so i GUESS that's a relief then? i've been checking my mail obviously and worried i tossed the "postcard" telling you they are ready for pick up.

i know if you DID lose it DMV wouldn't be beating down your door trying to remind you.

well, maybe since we've posted about it, we'll both get our postcards tomorrow .

ordered mine 02/04/08 will call them tomorrow though.

Maybe all of us in So Cal will get ours at the same time - LOL!! When we lived in VA, we only waited about a month...

3 weeks in Texas? Lucky......

I've had 3 different sets of personal plates. All of them took 10 weeks to get here. Same for my husbands [who just got them].

My first set of plates was rejected as being a "lookalike". SCQQP was unacceptable! Grr. I ordered in early Sept and got the rejection slip in late Nov. Within a few days I reordered SASSY MC and received them in mid Feb.

I guess you could cruise the toll roads. . . or kick back or just go nuts waiting or totally lose it! I REALLY doubt there is a problem manufacturing, but who knows?

well you ordered yours on the 2nd of feb - ordered mine on the 4th of feb. neither of us have received a notice...

Maybe it's an L.A. problem . seems like it's a new thing every day here. when i first moved here it took me 12 months to receive a hard copy of my drivers license even though i had been licensed to drive in texas for...21 years.

when i called today the guy didn't even hesitate or ask any info. he seemed pretty sure with his answer as if he had been asked a million times already. who knows...

WOW, that is absolutely ridiculous!!! I have had 'YEEEHAA" since 1992, which took 2 1/2weeks if I remember right. Have purchased other personalized plates since then and they seem to average 10-14 days from ordering to receiving in the mail. (And here I always thought Idaho was a little backwards)!
I would call and find out what it is going on.

Hmm, I ordered mine on April 6th and was wondering the same thing, when are they coming??? They already charged the amount to my card so hopefully I will get them soon. Mine say's IM WDSTK on a Whale Tail Plate.

As a side note, I bought my car on Mar 14th and just got the regular plates a few days ago.

FWIW, they charged my car the very instant i submitted the order and that was feb 4th. also i received my tags very quickly as well when i bought my MINI (second hand though). i doubt standard plates have any issues. it's just the personal ones.

also FWIW i ordered the "regular" cali plate personalized.

we'll have to wait it out and see. it's not the worst thing but, still... if anyone else charged my card and then held out on delivery for 3 months they'd have hell to pay...

I'm with you guys! I ordered my plates February 15th, picked up my MCS 08 on Saturday Feb 16th...no sign of the plates yet...

Sooo...maybe the prison early release plan has accidently dismissed all the metal workers...we should drive into the mountains, there's probably a little cave of trolls smelting plates somewhere...
