Arizona Mini Owners presents:
South Mountain Fun Run
Jan 10th, 2004

This fun run is to welcome some out of state MINI owners to the Valley of the Sun. They're here from Minnesota to run in the Rock & Roll Marathon this Sunday. So we'll take them out to experience some nice mexican food and some great vistas from atop South Mountain.

Here's the details:

Meet at Fry's Electronics on the NW corner of I-10 & Baseline Rd for an 11AM departure

Head West on Baseline Road

Left on 20th Place Road bends and becomes 20th Street then it bends in a westernly direction becoming Dobbins Rd.

Left on Central this takes us into the South Mountain park

Continue up the hill following the signs to the TV towers. Park at the top for the view of the east valley and points south.

We'll also go and visit the parking lot on the N Summit Rd which overlooks downtown and north, east and west valley.

Head back down the mountain continuing North on Central to Los Dos Molinos (8646 S Central) for lunch (they cannot make reservations...when we get there our name is added to the list. They can make a large table for us...it may take some time as they are a very popular restaurant). Be prepared to have cash as I don't know if they'll accomodate separate checks.

Sugar is going in for:

1. Driver side window doesn't always go down
2. Pat told me to have them look at my coolant fluid (it's the wrong color and it's very low)
3. My "engine" fuse box cover is broken
4. My back windshield squirter doesn't work

the front grill doesn't sit flush either,
and there is a hair in the rear passenger fender
and they scratched the paint when applying the new fenders.

and we still don't have the original bumpers

I went up South Mountain for the first time other day...it was a Sunday eve at sunset...very busy....and surpringly a pretty rough ride. Honestly I was going up at about 3mph, it took forever! But then I caught the view!

and that's where the pics from the current sig are from.

Good news about that ride, ladies and gentlemen. I ride road bikes and some of the people I ride with race a lot. Anyway, apparently, they said, that that south mountain road is due for a new paving this year, so as soon as it's done, I'll let you know. While I'm at it, imagine riding down that road, on a road bike... after your hands and forearms go numb from all the shaking, you still need to hang on and steer at 30 mph. I'm not looking forward to biking that again until it's paved. Anything, I thought I should let you know.

"At distribution center".... It's killing me. I'm now guessing that it will be here on 2-2-2004.

Anyway, maybe it gets to the dealer today, maybe tomorrow. They need a few days with it and hopefully it'll ship out on Monday morning, 1-19 which will get it here on the 2nd.
