[AZ] who here has no plans for Thanksgiving day?
#4
Agro, I'm thinking about making a road trip up to LV for some scouting. I'd go for the meet on the 22nd, but I'm getting my pulley done. I'll tell you more about my plans this weekend.
All, OK, since no one asked, I guess I'll just have to spill the beans. I was thinking about heading out to the Auto Show T-Day afternoon after having a nice T-Day dinner.

T-day has always been THE HOLIDAY for my family. We may be all around the world at other times of the year, but there is generally a surprising amount of effort expended to be home for Thanksgiving day. I guess its just an American thang. I've always enjoyed T-day more than the other holidays, probably because of the family's effort to get together on that day. In college, I remember inviting a foreign student home with me just so that they could experience the real American holiday. How can you have no plans for Thanksgiving? Go visit your family, if at all possible.

I know the first time I moved to AZ back in the mid 80s for college, I couldn't get back home. So people in the circles I hung around with welcomed me in to their gatherings. That was great!
In a round-about way, I'm offering that to my Mini friends who might be too far away from home to go visit their relatives. It really SUCKS spending thanksgiving alone. I don't wish that on anyone. So I'm doing my part to make sure the people around here in a similar situation as I was, can feel the love.
The Holiday season is really hard on may people's emotions and sometimes we need all the support we can get.
Well wishes to you, MGCMAN, during this Holiday season. I'm happy for you that you have the means to do as you please. But please, don't make it a guilt trip on those who don't have that means or don't have any family to spend it with. Consider yourself blessed to have a family and have the means to gather.

Bummer. My wife is working Friday. She's in retail and it's going to be a busy day for her. I really wanted to her to participate. I called her and she's now undecided as to what to do.
We'd still like to invite over anyone who has no other place to go for Thanksgiving. We can watch a football game or a DVD, hang out, etc.
