Thankfully there's that zero deductible OEM windshield replacement thingy from my insurance (American Family - and it's free).

Highly annoying but what can you do. I love this car too damn much!

Before the end of the year, I'll either be in jail b/c of it or the Italian Job sequel (there isn't one - yet) will be shot in Scottsdale, AZ!

haf

We should retitle the thread "Arizona eats windshields"

I'm on windshield #5

The first 4 were MINI. The 5th is PPG. The MINI ones all lasted 1-3 months. The PPG windshield has now been in almost 6 months without problems.

I got my MC on 9/5/03 and by 9/11/03 had a 5 inch crack. It cost me $400 to replace it, and my insurance wouldn't cover it. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new insurance company!

Maybe they can make a "clear bra windshield guard"

My windshield cracked after 2 months of MINI ownership.

I have solved the problem by ignoring it for the past 9 months. Now the crack is getting close to my field of vision so a new one is soon to come.

Considering a custom bulletproof windshield. . . .

I'm still on my first windshield, but lately it sounds like rocks being thrown at me. I'm just waiting for my first crack.
I'm also getting tons of nics on the front bumper. That great BMW paint job is so good, I just picked up an Euro kit and I'm going to have it painted at an independent paint shop.

PS about glass insurance. I had the coverage on another vehicle (van). After 3 replacements, my policy was cancelled! Too many recurring reports. Be careful my mini friends, insurance companies are only your fair weather friends.

i'm still on my first windshield but with a crack spanning half the area since may-ish. well it started out small but grew everytime i washed it in the summer. it sorta looks like a dyno graph, but whatever, i'm lazy, and it's expensive to fix. i was first getting the dealer to do it but at 260 for the glass, plus service? forget it. local place will do it for 250 for everything and come to my house. but i still am not getting it done, because i'm sure it will just happen again soon. plus there's thousands of lil pits scattered all about. i'll actually probably get a new one in there soon....

2002 Cooper CVT: 13+ months on original factory windshield, zero cracks or problems.

2004 MCS: 750+ miles, no issues either.

Oh and I took a 2,800 mile roadtrip last week on the CVT and the windshield held perfectly fine.

I think most of you live in "Pebble" land.
