Anyone have Aux kit installed at North Scottsdale?
I called them to have the kit installed, and they said that they haven't done one yet. They estimate the time involved to be about an hour. MINI USA says it should be 30 minutes. I've also told them that I want the wiring to go between the downtubes, not into the glove box, so that should cut down on the install time.
Feedback? Comments? Thanks.

>>Nothing to add to your thread about the AUX kit, but was that your EB/W MCS parked at a convience store on W Bell Rd at about 8AM this morning?
Nope. I actually live in San Diego, but will be visiting family in AZ. Since I need to leave my car at the dealer for other things, I'd rather go through Scottsdale (where I bought her) than through Brecht (Ick!).

Thanks for the offer minicoop, but I'd rather not void the warranty. It's worth it to me to pay a little bit extra to avoid it. How old is your MINI? I didn't think that any models coming off the assembly line came with the aux adapter already installed...

>>can you clarify something? this AUX kit is not necessary on an 03 correct? from my understanding there's an AUX input at the back of the deck correct?

Hi hafid,
you are partially correct: the 03's are aux input "ready" which means that there is a port at the back of the head unit into which you must plug a cable in order to actually USE the aux input. It's this cable that I'm having installed. Apparently if you buy the cable and plug it in yourself, you void the warranty on the entire vehicle. They pretty much got you by the short ones on this if you want to use the aux input at all...

Yikes! You're kidding! Good to know. I need to find me an Ipod for cheap first I suppose....but that'll be fun once it's all hooked up. I have to say the Mini Cooler is the coolest darn thing around! It's like having a mini bar! (w/out the alcohol of course)

I don't know who you've been listening to, but that cannot void the entire warranty. It is up to the dealership to prove that your modification actually caused the defect you're bringing your car in for. So if your exhuast welds break and the muffler falls out, the dealership is going to have a very difficult time in court trying to explain how a cable to the AUX port on the radio caused the factory deftect in the weld to break. See my point?

I do, but I'm always cautious with anything voiding the warranty.....I have the rogue intake in and only did that after reading so many people having it and the dealership offering to install it themselves.
But yes, the AUX port makes no sense.....only if the stereo system were to go kaput...they could question things there perhaps....just not on the rest of the car!
Dominic, this car is AMAZING! I really can't believe the amount of fun I'm having with it.

Yes, I know it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but I'm with hafid; when it comes to warranty issues, I'd rather just let the dealer handle it. I'm no tinkerer!
And yes, MINI North Scottsdale ROCKS!

>>im with Dom I have done a lot to my car and the only war. issues I have had are with the engine the dealler have been quite cooperative
That's good to know. I've heard some dealerships are a pain in the *** when it comes to warranty issues and aftermarket. With over 30k miles on your car, Mike, what type of issues have you had to take it in for?
