>>Okay... Still working on the details, but its getting there. I have a few questions...
>>1. Do people want to bring what they want grilled, or would they rather bring like buns, chips, condiments, etc, with us providing the meats (probably hot dogs and burgers...maybe some chicken.)
>>2. Would you rather do the drive, then eat around noon (hot time of the day,) or meet in the early afternoon and have an early dinner (Joe, any idea when finals are that day?)
>>3. How many would be interested in driving ON THE BEACH after the bbq?
>>
>>Thanks guys.

I think it would work better to meet in the early afternoon have a nice Late lunch/early dinner and then do the drive in the beach loop when the tide is at its lowest. When we went to Daytona a few weeks ago, the tide was typically high between 10AM and 1 or 2PM preventing any vehicle access to the beach, but then again, this might not be the case every single day.

We would prefer to make the caravan drive after the BBQ.

Well good ol' Murphy is at it again... I'm stuck with 2 final exams that day, Strategic Management at 10:30am - 12:30pm, and Managerial Economics at 1:00pm - 3:00pm... Yuck!!!!

Therefore the afternoon would be better for me. I understand that the meet will most likely get underway before I'm done, so I can meet up later, anytime after 3:30pm.

Do you have a head count...?

It might be easier to just have people bring their own food/meat.
I think a drive on the beach would be nice and line up for a good photo op!

As much as I like the beach and how cool Daytona is (Bike Week Veteran) imagine all the sand that would get on my MINI. You all have fun, I will be in NYC that week with the family.

I agree about the sand and salt, having lived at the beach for many years I know the corrosion power of the sea. I'd rather do the loop and then let the folks that want to go to the beach (after the food hopefully!)

Okay, we have reserved the large pavillion at the Gamble Rogers Rec. Area... It has a huge grill and tons of tables, so that's settled. Admission is less than 4 bucks a car, and the guy on duty said that he was going to try to get us a group discount.

Who all is in??? We need to start a head count so that we can decide about the food... thanks guys. Either post it here, or email me at FLMiniFreak76@aol.com

Joe, when are your finals that day? I'm leaning towards starting the loop run around 12, then having the cookout. How does this sound? That way, the SoFl people can get up there without rushing...too bad...hehe...

You knows me and pops are already packed. Two in THIR13EN, and 12 o'clock sounds great.

Thanks, Holly.

I won't be done until about 3:00, so I can meet you guys shortly after, if you're all still around... I have some Cell Phone #'s and obviously we'll be on 7 sub 21. If anybody wants to run the loop again after the cookout let me know!!!

Add me to the list Holly.
And for anybody coming from the Tampa Bay area, I saw this in the MINI owners lounge:

"Best Shortcut:
Skip I-4 and take I-75 north to SR-50, then east to Daytona! It's a nice drive thru the country, no Orlando/Disney madness."

Looks like SR-50 runs into I-4 around downtown O-town so I'll probably hop on I-4 there, it does bypass all that annoying tourist traffic around Kissimmee.

This is where we're meeting right? (about 20 mi north of Daytona):
Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler
3100 S State Highway A1A
Flagler Beach, FL 32136

D'oh! I forgot to add KattKrenn to the list of potential attendees
And I'll also add Vince to the list.

To answer your question, we are NOT meeting there, but that is where the drive will end and the bbq will begin. We are probably going to meet at either the Volusia Mall, or at Abe's dad's office. We met there last time, and it was fairly easy to find, and very close to the loop. Once he gets back, I'll find out for sure.

Mully, you and Zero can crash in my dorm probably if you need a place to stay... I might be pretty well packed by then so we might have more space. Also I think my roommate has moved in with a girlfriend somewhere, I've not seen him for ages!

Greeetings!

WELCOME, Mcooper to MCO and the Florida MINI family  !

However, I am sad to report that we will not be able to make the Daytona Loop Run. I was really looking forward to the event -- but my sister has scheduled a big graduation party for my niece the say day - darn  !!

Hope to see all of you soon!!! Happy Motoring  !!!
