Same thing here David. It was up for a while 2 days ago and now it’s down again. I talked to James when it down the first time and was told the site is still hosted on Andy’s server. We’ll just have to wait.

Sunshine MINIs Is Down

The Sunshine MINIs forums are down at the moment. I've contacted Andy who still controls the webserver (I'm still just an administrator). Hopefully it will be back up soon. I'm still hoping to get the site moved next month.

Thanks for posting, James. I've been trying to get on SSM for days! Happy holidays and I miss my Florida pals!

*I merged the two threads discussing this*

Thanks for the update, James. Several of us in the Tampa area have been trying to figure out what was going on, and none of us had a means to contact anyone from the board. I guess we just always take for granted that if we need to e-mail you, we can just hit SSM & send a message from there!

BAM had a very small, but enthusiastic turnout at MacDinton's last night. I'd bet we would have had better attendance if SSM were up & the reminder message was there for everyone. We'll get 'em next month...

James, something to think of in the future....have the admins share email addresses? I didn't have any way to contact you so I've been in the dark and kept getting questions from folks about the site and I had to reply, "mmmm don't know?"

After today I'll be offline for a couple of days. I'm closing on the house today and moving tomorrow and Friday. Hopefully by the time I get back online I'll have Dawgbone in my possesion. I'll post house and car pics when I get settled.

Sounds like you'll have a busy weekend David. All the best with the move and new house. And I don't need to say anything about the new MCC because I know you'll love getting that.

Sorry I didn't make it to MacDinton's Bill. My car has been in the shop since the 20th. There has been a delay on getting the lighter flywheel and clutch. Hope to have it here by Friday.

I guess all of us are having with drawls not able to get on the SSM site.

No news on SSM. I emailed Andy but haven't heard anything. I just hope the forums haven't been lost. That would really be bad. You all can always PM me from here or send an email through the MINIS OF ORLANDO website contact page.

I emailed Andy as well, no response yet either. I'll try to instant message him tonight and see if I get anything.

The forums page is still down, but there is now a message-

"Sorry, the forums are down until I can get PHP upgraded because of a security problem with the version I have installed. It's quite a pain. Sorry for the inconvenience"

At least we know he's aware & working on it.

YAY, Andy!

David, what a beautiful ride you got yourself there! I have not seen tha many Chili Red Convertibles around in Miami, and I think red is the best color for any ragtop car.

Is it a 5-speed or CVT? How do you like the new Getrag tranny, if so equipped?

I hope you take it on a maiden voyage down to Miami and join us for www.minisofmiami.com annual picnic to be held on February 6th!

Happy new year and enjoy your new beauty!

I've got the new Getrag 5 speed and it's great! I even barked the wheels a little when I left the lot, oops. The only problem is trying to move the shifter to the left to go in reverse, might take me a while to get used to where reverse is now.

LOL David, yes the thingie with the reverse is pretty much normal on Getrag gearboxes but it should become much easier to engage as the car racks up miles. The reverse on my '04 MCS engages totally effortless now, but at first when the car was brand new, it required some muscle to get it to engage in place.

My technique back then was to open my right hand and with the palm push the gearstick towards the left (Driver) and then give it a quick thud past the deterrent point (Safety pin to avoid engaging reverse when intending to go on 1st gear). It worked everytime until the mechanism broke in properly and now I can do it with basically 2 fingers.

Yea, but my problem is I'm used to going to the left for reverse and now I have to move to the right to get reverse.

Yeah it is a bit more akward, Just apply the same open palm technique by twisting your hand/arm. It could be harder as you have to clear the reverse/5th gear safety deterrent.

What else you ordered on your MCC?
