It's finally autocross time!
Here are some upcoming events for April:
April 10th, Iowa Region SCCA event in Waterloo, Iowa
April 16th, MAC Novice School (class room)
April 17th, Porsche Club at Valley Fair (don't have to drive a Porsche)
April 23rd, MAC Novice School (driving)
April 24th, Iowa Region SCCA event in Waterloo, Iowa
April 30th, SCCLac at Winona
May 1st, SCCLac at Winona
May 1st, MAC at ValleyFair
A bunch of us usually meet in Rochester to drive to Waterloo. I think the plan is to meet at Fleet Farm on Hwy 63 at 7am on the 10th (and probably 24th, too).
Let me know if you need more info on any of these events!

Sweet! We'll try and make the Winona event on the 22nd. Not sure if we will since Headwaters (http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/headwaters/) is the week before.

Anything on June 12th? I'll be in the Twin Cities for the weekend and it would be great to race while I'm here. (I'm assuming no one will have any objections to a rental being entered)
I'm a pretty active member of the Utah SCCA and am suffering withdrawls because of my business travel schedule.

I've never been much of a "car show" guy, but apparently there is a German Car Fest at, ironically, "Rice" park in St. Paul on the 11th and 12th...
http://www.mbca-tc.org/calendarofevents.asp
And, if you're willing to do some driving, it looks like the Des Moines Valley Region SCCA has a "TBA" event date that looks like it will fall on the 12th...

If the do announce it for the 12th, and it happens to be at Waterloo, IA, that'd probably just about be worth the drive. Waterloo is a nice concrete site, but it is probably 3 hours from the cities. Many of the twin cities autocrossers do regularly make the drive to Waterloo, though, because the site is that good. I live in south-eastern MN, so it's only ~2 hours for me. I try to hit every event in Waterloo, although I've already missed one this year And will probably have to miss at least 2 more

Thanks for the links. I'll keep an eye on them. 3 hours is nothing. I try to attend a couple of Southern Idaho events each year and they're about 3 hours away.
Now if I can find a decent rental car to use. The best one I've driven so far is the Neon from Alamo. I'll just have to remember to pack my pressure gauge.
Does the club have any spare helmets to use? I'll be in the middle of a long business trip coming in from Hamburg on Saturday and I won't be able to bring along my helmet.

Well, I talked to some of the DMVR SCCA guys on Sunday. It does not look like there will be an event on the 12th. Bummer. However, it has come to my attention that there is a rally cross on the 12th:

I think Corcoran is an outlying suburb of the twin cities. I've never been there (or done a rally cross for that matter).

You would probably have fun at a rallycross. We run the Omni there and it's always fun.
I would suggest though that if you're going to do one, Corcorane is the one to go to. The ones at the Donovan Farm and at Arkansaw, WI are pretty rough. You would probably end up banging some body work on the MINI since it sits so low. Corcorane however is a different story! It's basically a dirt track so the surface is nice and smooth. Perfect for MINI's.
