Problem with the forum, quotes and such

I imagine this has been covered before, not sure what to search for though.

On many posts I read, most noticeably when people quote someone else, I see things like "&quot" before/after the text. Among other text oddities. Anybody know why this is, and how I can fix it?

Feel free to move this post to a proper forum, or delete it after I get my answer, thanks =)

Maybe I'll try to take a screenshot and post it if I need to better specify my problem.

Its just people typing in the wrong place or copying and pasting and accidentally missing something. Dont worry about it...

It's pulled over posts from an older forum that didn't convert correctly.

Close. The odd text is from quoted posts that were made before NAM migrated to the forum software now being used. You'll notice that all of the posts that you see the odd text are from mid 2004 or older.

That's what I said. I know what it is because the same thing happened with my forum the first time I tried converting to vb.

Here is an example of my problem. As you can see, this post was just entered 3 days ago.

That's a totally different issue.

It's caused by people that type in Word and text format in Word and then copy over to the NAM text box. The text formatting is retained in the copy, but we enforce one font and font size for NAM, so the additional formatting tags aren't used and get displayed in the manner you see there.

My recommendation would be to either:
1) type your post in the NAM text box, and copy it to word to do spell checking, but make your corrections in the NAM text box

OR

2) If you must use word, once the text is copied to NAM us this button to strip off the text formatting and then re-format your post with the NAM text formatting (i.e. bold, italic, color, etc).

Or, Googlebar now comes with spell checking which works in form feilds. Avalaible fof IE and Firefox/Mozilla.
