I've noticed, every once in a while, that there is no "upload photos" link when I'm in my gallery. I think it's usually all the way to the right in the black bar below the sponsor banner. Right now it's simply not there. Is this a known issue, or can we not upload photos at certain times for some reason, like site maintenance?

I haven't heard of the problem before.

Right now the
upload photos link is showing up for me on the far right side.

If you click that link above do you get an upload screen?

When I click on that link, I get a login screen. Once I log in, then I see the "upload photo" link. (Keep in mind I was already logged in).

That seems to narrow down the isue a bit: where I usually see the "upload photos" link, there was a "register" link, which I didn't think was usually there. When I clicked on it, a message came up saying something like "we see that you are already registered as chrisnl".

Strange. Well, now when I open up the site in a new window, I see the upload link and not the register link. I guess if I have this problem again, I'll just track down this thread and click on the link you posted.

It sounds like you're browser isn't storing the cookie from NAM.

If you see the "register" link, it means you're not logged in, so (the way it should work then) is that if you're not logged in, and you're not seeing the upload photos link, then at the same time you shouldn't be able to post.

Do you have to login to NAM every time you visit from the same computer you've used before?

I do log in every time, but that's out of personal preference. My browser does store my username, just not my password.

That's what's strange about this - when it happens, I'm already logged in. That's why, when I clicked on the 'register' link, I got a message saying that I was already recognized as registered member chrisnl. I tried refreshing the screen and everything, but until you posted the link, I couldn't find any way to get the 'upload' link to display.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.6, in case that matters.

Thanks for the help, Dave.

Chris,
What URL are you using to access the site? www.northamericanmtoring.com? I've seen cookie-related login problems with other users using shortened versions like northamericanmotoring.com

Mark,
Sorry, I just noticed your post. I'll check when I get home, but I believe I'm using www.northamericanmotoring.com.

Anyway, I'm checking back into this thread because I'm having the same problem, but this time I'm at work and using IE 6.0. I'll go click on the link in Dave's post and see it that solves the problem again.

Edit: yup, it worked. Same as in post #3.

Thanks,
Chris

It just happened again, this time with IE 6.0. Every time, I just look up this thread and click on the link in Dave's post, and then I can upload photos.

Apparently I'm the only one having this issue? At least it's infrequent.

Chris,
We haven't received any other reports of this problem. As we mentioned above when you go to the Gallery and you don't see the Upload Photos button do you see Welcome chrisn1 in the upper right portion of the nav bar? If you don't see this you are, for some reason, not logged into the site. For testing if you go to the gallery and don't see the button would you click on Forums (in the header), navigate to any forum and tell me if you see the New Thread button? If you don't the login cookie is getting lost on your machine for some reason. If this is the case we can try to figure out where its getting lost and under what conditions.

Thanks

Mark
